Funny ... T, I was going to ask the same q. I'm getting mixed answers on this.
some people say absolutely not. Other people say that its really only the smell that is a problem (may make you nautious) for pg women & that it cannot get into the bloodstream. The products these days are more natural...
What is the scoop here girls?

Re: Question for you PRego's
There is slightly conflicting information on this topic. My OB suggests waiting until after the 1st trimester to color. Make sure you keep on top of the coloring while you are TTC so you will only have about 8 weeks to wait. That is assuming you color just before you take the BFP pregnancy test and find out when you are 4 wks. pregnant. Ask your dr. about highlights, if you have them. Many say they are ok to get since they do not have to touch the roots.

Re: Question for you PRego's
I think the studies are inconclusive. In general pregnant women should avoid strong chemicals and fumes. My approach so far has been to avoid anything that I think 'may' harm the baby (like being around paint fumes, cigarette smoke, drinking alcohol, etc.)

Re: Question for you PRego's
I heard all different answers on this as well. My friend said that if you want to dye your hair but you feel uncomfortable with the hair dye chemicals, you can get all natural hair dye from a health food store.

Re: Question for you PRego's
Sue, that's a good idea, health food stores have good dyes, my friend and my mom used to use Herbatint.

Re: Question for you PRego's
I asked my Dr. and got my hair colored. She said as long as the room was well ventilated it was fine. She also said that the color might not take because of the hormones. My color did take but my curly hair has gotten straight!

Re: Question for you PRego's
My doctor said I can highlight but not single process, as highlights don't touch the scalp. In fact, that's what I'm going to do in about 15 minutes!
