Question of the Day: 11/14/05
Re: Question of the Day: 11/14/05
We typically have Christmas eve with his family as a tradition and Christmas day with mine. We open presents on Christmas eve!
Re: Question of the Day: 11/14/05
Absolutely not! We're going to have to start some, I suppose. We didn't grow up celebrating any of the same holidays, so everything's new to one of us. We're doing Thanksgiving with some friends this year, which I hope will be a tradition that we continue as long as we're not living near either of our families.

No but We are doing ALL the holidays at our new HOUSE....and maybe that will be the new one :):)
Re: Question of the Day: 11/14/05
Well, every year we seem to have a fight over where to spend Christmas Eve since both of our families celebrate - does that count?
Re: Question of the Day: 11/14/05
instead of buying cards for each other, we write notes to each other on leftover wrapping paper. i have a good collection saved up from the past years and secretly am looking more forward to what he writes than the actual gift...

We celebrate St. Nick's Day on December 6th. It's something my Grandpa always did when we were kids and now I make FH do it. St. Nick is the guy who Santa's supposed to be based on, so we celebrate him and exchange small gifts on that day.

Christmas Eve we go to mass together every year and then go to my aunt's house, then his grandmother's and then back to my parents where we exchange a few presents with my parents and my brother. Then we have a 'family sleepover'. We wake up Christmas morning to find Santa has visited my parent's house yet again and we start to conquer the mound of presents under the tree. After that we have a huge breakfast and listen to Christmas music all day long. It's cheesy and corny, but it's great and it works for us!
