i would but FH isnt to keen on the idea ... i actually really would like to adopt so i am still going to try to talk to FH about it ...

I have the same situation with my FH. We've only talked about it a handful of times, in passing really, and he didn't seem too excited about the idea. Hopefully we don't have to worry about it, but if we do there will be some serious discussions.

I have a niece and a nephew that I would be caregivers for should anything ( god forbid ) happen to my sister and brother in law. They both have special needs - so when I go to church I pray for God to give me children, when I am ready - but I know God will only give me as much as I can handle. So, for some strange reason recently - I have come to peace with the idea that if I were to have fertility issues it is because of some bigger plan down the line. . . that is how I feel right now, but who knows if I really DO need to think about this question seriously.

I have adopted cousin's and FH's sister/MOH is adopted. It's part of our life. I would love to have one biological and then adopt. I would especially like to adopt a child with special needs. I'm trained in disabilities and think I could offer them a great home.

My ideal family would be FH and I, a biological child or two and one or two kids with Down Syndrome...that's my specialty!

yes fh and i would adopt! however i would love to adopt a child with special needs. i am actually studying special ed right now for my masters. and i feel they are such wonderful children and i would adore them just as much as my own biological child. plus with my background i think i would be able to provide well wiht a child with special needs

Yeah we are great people if i do say so myself

but i completely agree with you...people who have a background in special ed/social work/psych are such helpful people to children with disabilitites. and why not use my knowledge and understanding to help children. i mean also because there are many parents who do not want to take care of their children who have a disability and it's soo sad. but i def would adopt a child with autism...i am so fasinated by children with autism because i feel they can be helped so much!!

to tell the truth i dont know if i would. i probably would want to because i want to be a mother and if i coud not have children than its really the only way - but its a huge decision to make - i dont think that i could honestly answer - for me its one of those things that you dont know the answer to unless it happens to you - its hard to put myself in someone else's shoes......but id like to think that its something that we would do......or we'd have LOTS of animals LMAO

my nephew has autism and my niece has asperger's syndrome - they are A LOT of work. . . but my sister has taught herself SO much and she is a FABULOUS mother to them

it takes a very special person to raise a child with special needs

you are absolutely correct...it definitely does take a special person to take care and raise a child with special needs....i feel some people dont realize how hard and hwo much dedication goes into the care of that specific child. i am sure your sister is a wonderful mother and she must have sooo much strength in her to raise her two children and love for them!!!!!

i actually worked in a school and specifically with a child with autism. it was sooo sad because he mother hardly cared for him and used hte school more as a baby sitting service than anything. i loved that little boy soo much he was amazing child and i loved working with him. but unfortunately he did not progress so much (which is anotehr hard thing when raising a child and not seeing them improve) becuse his mother never reinforced what he did in school at home

i worked in an office for a non profit for parents and children affected by Autism - it was the best job I ever had.....i also had the chance to work with some of the children during the summer camp program and during social skills programs - the children and parents of autistic children are some of the most special and awesome people i ever met. i loved the job - hopefully once we can live off just FH's salary I can get another job like that - they didn't pay very well but as i was saying, there is just something so special about the kids i met - and i met some of the best parents ever - i hope that i am half the parent that some of these people are. truly amazing!

No. I have a son, so we wouldn't adopt anymore if we couldn't have kids.
