After my previous posts about leaving but couldnt go through with it. My question of the day is:
WHAT MAKES US SO FASCINATED WITH PUBLIC FORUMS???
LIW, Myspace, friendster, facebook etc etc,
What attracts us to them? Why do we care what other people post and what they have to say? But we do care and cant stay away. Opinions......

Re: Question of the day (Tuesday)...........
Boredom. I work at night right now, so, I have nothing to do all day. By nothing, I mean cleaning, and things like that, which I craftily avoid.

Boredom
I don't go on myspace or facebook that much. I can't get on at work anyway so if I'm bored at here, I just come to these boards.

Re: Question of the day (Tuesday)...........
This is a GOOD one!!
I think the fascination is that by human nature, we are curious people and we want to know what other people are doing; in their life, for their wedding, etc. And, we crave acceptance. We want to be validated by our friends (myspace) the same goes for here. We share our thoughts and plans with each other because we like to be acknowledged. We like to know that someone else likes what you are doing. I'm not saying that what others think matters completely, but I think it weighs heavily on some people. The same for myspace. At one time or another, I'm sure we have all seen a 'friend' on another friends page and been like, 'hey, why didn't they request me?'

Re: Question of the day (Tuesday)...........
boredom curiousity asking for opinions
but i think it has alot to do with talking to others who have a common interest...in this case we're all getting married so we can talk about crazy ideas we have with others who will understand...Or we can talk about it as much as we want when we know in our lives it will drive someone crazy.
myspace-thats all about being nosey...seeing what the person you hate is up to, for some its seeing what the person they like is up to. Finding out gossip.

Re: Question of the day (Tuesday)...........
It's boredom, and advice seeking. I'm mostly on at work, and I can't access other sites like myspace from work. When I'm home, I never look at myspace, and come on here because I like to read about what other people are doing for their weddings.

I agree. I think it's that we are all going through the same phase in our lives right now, and it doesn't matter what age we are, what religion....we are all similar right now, and are there to confirm that we are making the right choices. It's a sense of community and being accepted. I think it gets worse though once we become parents....you think we're bad now....wait...it's be like a little cult....LOL...
