Just would like to know what is considered an average price for a wedding gown? Also, what is a standard/normal price for each person (head count)? This is my parents first wedding to plan as well as mine, so we need all the help we can get! HAHA....ALso, have any of you booked for any of the exitic rentals? (the stretch hummer, navigator..etc) All help is appreciated!!

Re: Question on Costs
When I was out looking at bridal gowns most of the dresses seemed to be around $800-850. Some were higher, some lower depending on the designer. I didn't go with any exotic cars so I can't opine on that. Prices per head vary from the places I saw $90-$250. If there are particular reception sites you are interested in you can call them and get a ballpark figure. Prices vary on season, and time of day and the day(sat, sunday etc...).
The things that I didn't know were more expensive were the florist and the photographer. There is a great range in their prices.
Best of luck

Re: Question on Costs
First welcome. You found a great place to meet wonderful woman. This board has helped me alot. I looked for dresses and I got a price range from about 650-2000.00. I went shopping and was told at one place that the dresses start at 1500.00 and to not even bother looking there. I cant really afford that but it is up to you what yoou and your parents want to spend because it is your day. As for places they depends on when you plan on getting married. If you are very flexable and want to get married before 94 you can get a good deal. They want to fill up dates. But if you want to get married in 94 then I would say look arround alot and see what the girls have to say about the places. They can range anywhere from 65.00 - 200.00 a person. Please FM me if you have any more questions.
Good luck

Re: Question on Costs
Welcome!
Wedding gown $ can greatly vary depending on a lot of factors, when I was shopping I looked at everything, even personal design. I tried on dresses in shops that ranged from $500 to $5,000. I just happened to fall in love with one of the least expensive dresses, & when I got home I found the dress online at netbride.com(while I was browsing around), it was in their dresses ready to ship section, in my size & color. Well, since it a ready to ship dress & not one they order, they guarntee shipping in 10 days(no shipping fee & no tax) & it returnable if your not satisfied(minus a restocking fee). So I ordered it & it should be here by Saturday. I know it sounds a little risky, but it seems worth it to me because my dress is now costing less than $400.
As far as reception halls they can range from $55pp to $200 pp. Dpends on place, time, day of week, amount of people, etc., etc. I looked at over 30 places so if you gave me some more details I'd be happy to make suggestions. You should also do searchs on this site, it has the best bridal advice I've seen.
I can't help you with limos, I haven't booked those yet.
Good luck & happy planning!

Re: Question on Costs
I second Stavia's price ranges - thats a pretty good idea since 99% of the dresses fall into that range and 90% of receptions sites are in there too for Long Island.
There really is no 'standard' or 'normal' - just want you want/can afford.

Re: Question on Costs
As far as dresses are concerned, the prices can vary. The good thing is that you can find a beautiful dress for much less than $1000. Probably the majority are between $700-$1500.
For the reception, assuming you are having a Saturday evening affair with a full ****tail hour and then a sit-down 4 hour reception: the normal range is b/w $80pp - 150 (with most places charging at least $100). This is what i was quoted when I had looked. Good Luck! Just edited to say that these are the prices including the tax and service charge.
