Question on inviting out-of-towners to Bridal Shower
I have been asked to provide the guest list for my bridal shower. My FMIL, FSIL, MOH, and 1 BM are on the opposite coast. I want to send them an invitation so they don't feel left out, but don't want them to feel bad about not coming!! I also don't want them to feel obligated to mail gifts.
Thought???
I'm not sure what is traditional for this type of situation.
Thanks!

Re: Question on inviting out-of-towners to Bridal Shower
I just had my shower on Sunday. I have some out-of-state relatives and so does my FH. They were all invited so that they would not feel left out. No gifts were expected from them, my MOH and mom just wanted to extend the invitation. 3 of my relatives from Chicago actually came as did my FMIL from South Carolina! I think it is definitely okay to invite relatives from out-of-state, not sure about friends because mine all live here.

i think, and correct me if i'm wrong here, that you're technically supposed to invite all the women invited to the wedding. i know that my mom and sis did this for mine, although most people didn't show b/c they live out of state. but i think it's a nice thing to do. i've gone to two weddings recently where i haven't been invited to the shower and i think it's kind of weird. like i'm a close enough friend for the wedding, but didn't make the shower cut.

Re: Question on inviting out-of-towners to Bridal Shower
I think it's the other way around - everyone invited to the shower must be invited to the wedding. I didn't include my bosses wife on the guest list for the bridal shower since I don't know her too well and other instances like that.
I think you should invite the people you really want to be there regardless of where they live. They know you don't expect them to make the trip but what a wonderful surprise it would be if they did! They also know that a gift is not required. So I wouldn't feel bad about including them.
