Question on Vacation Spots

Has anyone been on vacation to the Dominican Republic since the earth quake in Haiti? I know they are the same island just two different sides. I wanted to know how it is and if it is still safe to go there. TIA!

I'm going to DR this coming Monday. I'm traveling to La Romana which is about 2 hours west from Santo Domingo. I've spoken to my travel agent as well as the airline and they have both said its safe. I'll let you know when I get back next Friday
