Question - ordering gowns from the internet??

If you order your gown or BM gowns from the internet, like bridesave or netbride, etc ... how do you get the alterations and fittings done? Can you take it to any bridal salon or do you have hire an independent seamstress? How does it work? Anyone doing this?

I ordered my dress from bridesave.com. The alterations were my biggest concern. But I called a few bridal salons to ask if they would do the alterations and all the ones I called said yes. I also called a couple of tailors specializing in formal wear as well. I figure I won't worry about it too much until the dress comes. Bottom line for me was the $$ savings by ordering from bridesave.com.

For BM's...depending on what alterations they need. My sister got her dress at David's Bridal, where I got mine. But it fits her pretty well...she just really needs a hem and maybe a little taken in...she is going to take it to the dry cleaners...it will probably cost her $20 or less.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, some people suggest not getting alterations at david's if you get yourr dress there, and I was wondering if Bridal shops would do it , or be insulted you didn't get your dress from them.

But I guess its the same as if you got your dress out of town, and needed alterations done in your area.
