question: raining on my parade?

question: raining on my parade?

Hi! Well here is my akward situation. My FH proposed on March 8...then 3 days later my FH's brother proposed. The brother knew FH's plan for three months...on a whim brother asked. My wedding is planned for July 2004. FH's brother is planning for Aug. 2004. I am very upset and feel like I am being rained on? Question 1:What do you think? or am I just being caddy. Question 2: Do I now invite FSIL to be in wedding party?? Note: This is a very brief summary of events.

It is an unfortunate situation- but there really isn't anything you can do about it, ya know? It's a month apart and just make your wedding as different as possible. Just enjoy your planning & don't worry what she is doing.

And- yes, invite her- family is family- no matter what stupid crap goes on.

I wouldnt be worried about it. You are going to have your day first. If anything your FSIL is going to feel more pressure not to have the same day as you. You can be the 'first' one to have all the things you want.
ONLY invite FSIL in your wedding party if you want. There is not protocol to have her involved if you dont want. If you arent close I wouldnt do it but it is a nice gesture to get the two of you closer (you are going to be family)

I was in the same boat as you - we got engaged first but had not set a date. They got engaged and set a date right away, which was a month after the date we were going to set. To avoid any problems, we just moved the wedding up to the next year. I am sorry you are going through this. Take the advice of the other brides and try to do everything different. I was so upset because she had even picked a dress that looked very similiar to mine so I am soooo glad we moved it up!!

I only have the same advise as the other girls, don't worry about it.

Only ask FSIL to be in the BP if you were going to ask her b/f they got engaged. If you're close, then yes. If not, I wouldn't.

Honestly, I think the future wife of your BIL got the short end of the stick. This sounds like a situation I had with my friend. I got engaged three days after her. My FI had it planned a long time before for that day, and he did not know his best friend was going to propose to my friend then. Everyone reacted so positively to your engagement and then they get engaged right after. The reaction to their news was probably a little less than yours and also their wedding is after yours, so they get less glory. Relatives won't want to come in twice like that. And everyone will be like whatever. No bride wants to feel like their wedding is just another wedding. Trust me- Your wedding will be more exciting.

dont worry about it, FBIL probably already had a plan, and has a right to the day they wanted.... it would have been bad if they had it in the same month as you. Since your having your wedding first, more attention will be on you, and when it gets around to FBIL, people may start comparing things at their wedding, which may **** for them.

My brother & sister both got engaged in the same week. They didn't seem to have a problem with it. Nothing was taking form either affair!!

My brother got engaged a month before me and we are getting married HIM: 6-21-03 and US: 8-29-03.
I'm not worried, I'm sure both weddings will be beautiful and unique in their own ways

As long as no one is trying to intentionally take anything away from each others weddings, it should be fine. Maybe you could help each other

Thanks girls! I feel a little bit better. And you all are right. Our weddings are going to be very different...mine is in NY, FBIL is in DC. I am just hoping to make it special for FH and myself. Thanks again!

I will admit that does ****, but at least they're not trying to plan it for the same day. They are a month apart, and I'm sure each one will be different. Don't worry about how she's planning hers, just do yours the way you want, and make it fit your personality. I wouldn't say that you now have to make her a part of the wedding party- I have a lot of family on my side and FH's that will not be in the party. I'm keeping it small and simple, just the few that are the closest to me and have been for years. FH is doing the same. Good luck!! And don't worry, it will all work out for the best.
