I just made my appointment for my first fitting. I made it for March 26th b/c the place where I bought my dress wouldn't allow me to make it earlier Is a month and a half before the wedding enough time??? Thanks!

Re: Question re: first fitting
Bridal Garden in Bethpage told me 4-6 weeks before the wedding for the 1st fitting. I thought that was cutting it close, but I guess that way your weight won't change much.

Re: Question re: first fitting
I think so.
My first fitting is Saturday and that's 1 month 1/2 before my wedding (when I ordered my gown I faked the date and moved it up a little - the date I told them is April 24).

Re: Question re: first fitting
Same for me- this was the earliest date they would give me. My first fitting in March 9th... 6 weeks from my wedding. You should have no problem.

Re: Question re: first fitting
My appt for my first fitting isn't until April 8th. The woman at the bridal store said it still still plenty of time- even if I need to go back the week of the wedding, she said everything would be ok. I have used this salon in the past, so I know everything will be ok.

Re: Question re: first fitting
The seamstress that I just went to today also said 6 weeks before the wedding for the 1st fitting. She gave a few reasons but the biggest was to allow for any changes or weight fluctuations... She also said that many brides actually lie about their date because they get so nervous, but then their gown just winds up sitting in the back spread out gathering dust.

Re: Question re: first fitting
my dress isn't in yet. I don't think I would want to do a fitting too soon anyway.

Re: Question re: first fitting
It should be.....make sure that the seamstress is available for at least three esessions before the big day1
Good Luck
Did you try it on to make sure they ordered the right size? you should be able to do this without an appointment.

Re: Question re: first fitting
Wow! Thanks for bringing this up! I just got a call to say that my dress came in and I haven't called back to schedule my first fitting. I didn't know when I should but, I haven't gotten my shoes or undergarments yet. I feel better now. I wanted to lose some more weight before going for fittings.

Thanks for the info. The woman that I spoke to said I'd be doing 3 fittings. But that most of the work is done at the first anyway. I bought the sample of my dress, so I know it fits
