Question re: getting deposit back after already signing contract
If a contract specifically states that the deposit is non-refundable, is there ANY way to get it back???

did the vendor breach the contract? Or, will they willingly give it back? Some will in the case of health issues or an emergency.
But, unless they breached the contract, they do not have to return a non-refundable deposit. Unless you go to court and a judge determines that the contract is not valid.

no they didnt breach it YET but Im just afraid that I am going to run into problems with them which I would rather avoid

hey, i ran into the same problem last week. i was told that i could not have my deposit back, thanks to liw, i found out that there is a law in suffolk county which states that you have to get youre deposit back minus $100.00 if it is within 6months of your date. also, if they rebook youre date, they also have to give you the money back. here is a link to the law i found. i jsut wrote my hall a letter, had it certified stating that i am canceling my date and i want my deposit back, i attached a copy of the law and told them i must heear from them within 5 business days or i am reporting them to consumer reports. i know i will get mine back. and i am sure you can too. good luck!
