Question re: Sundays and Liquor

Does anyone know if a catering hall is allowed to serve alcohol before 12 noon on a Sunday? I know there are laws about selling alcohol before noon but don't know if it applies here. Anyone know?? TIA!

I'm pretty sure that they avoid the rules somehow...cause I was guaranteed drinks while getting ready at 9am!!!

the law is that they cannot serve alcohol before 12 pm on a sunday. do catering halls do it? you bet. i would call them up and ask what they will be doing.

makes sense, they can get fined. i work in the industry and i have seen them wait before to serve drinks. i am a little confused, what time is your reception starting? are you worried about your guests not being able to drink before 12? or is it just you that would like some drinks?

Mine is serving chapagne at 11:30 before the ceremony, so I think it's ok

now that i think about it...we had a champagne glass in our hands at a hall while waiting in the 'foyer' for the noon ceremony to begin.

Originally our ceremony would be at 1130 w/ CH starting at 1200. However, we wanted more time to take pics. So our ceremony will be at 1100 and CH will be from 1130 to 100 - it was their idea and we are paying an extra $6pp for that extra half hour. We didn't think the price was bad considering how much people eat and drink at CH. But if we aren't getting alcohol for that half hour, then I don't think we should be paying $6 or they should be giving us something else to offset it. But we only thought about the time thing this weekend and they never mentioned it.

That's good point! I would ask them.
