Question re: thermography and invitations (Pippy Sweets)..

Can you ladies please give me your opinions on the following:

I emailed Pippy Sweets today regarding her pocketfold invites and they are priced amazingly. I have been chatting back & forth with Diana via email and she is a pleasure. She just told me that the invites do not get printed via thermography as she does flat printing. I am a little disappointed as in my opinion, thermography looks more expensive. I guess you can say that is b/c it is. Anyway, when I asked her about the thermography she said it would probably cost about $300 - $325 for 125 invites b/c she has to outsource them for that. She did mention that if I wanted I could get the invitation printed thermography and the reception and RSVP card flat printed to save money. She said that it would cost probably about $100 extra for just the invite. Now I am concerned about the return address on the envelopes. I am assuming those would be flat printed too.

If any of you girls have used Pippy's Sweets in the past have you felt the same way as I do? I have a gf at work who is throwing a huge barmitzvah for her daughter and I know she has been showing me real expensive invites and stuff and I guess this would make me feel cheap if it wasn't thermographed. Also, my cousin is getting married a few months before me and i just got her shower invitation and it is at a VERY expensive place. I don't want my invites to look too cheap.

Girls, do you think you can give me a hand on this and tell me what you think. Do you think it looks cheap if the invites are not in thermography and are flat printed? I know I should not care what other people think but I can't help it right now. I just do....

If anyone can recommend a company that does thermography for a reasonable price, that would be great too.

TIA ladies.

I'd love to hear what other LIW'ers have to say about places to do thermography. I feel the same as you do about the look of thermography - for me it's more that I like the look and feel of it.

We really want to do the pocketfold invites but I haven't been able to find a company to send them to be thermographed for a reasonable price. I got a sample from Pippy's and as nice as Diana is, I was not thrilled with the quality of the inserts - they were printed on regular paper instead of cardstock. That, in addition to the fact that they're not thermographed, made them seem less professional (although I've read rave reviews of Pippy's invites on here). Maybe she'd print them on cardstock...

I'm looking into alternative invites now. Also, if they're flat printed, I'm thinking I could do that on my own at Kinko's or whatever and save some money. I guess we'll see with time.

I have not seen a sample from Diana yet. I just requested one today. I saw so many reviews on here that I thought maybe they were actually really good quality. I would be upset also if the insert cards were not printed on quaity paper. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hopefully we will get more LIW brides views on this and their input regarding thermography.

I originally felt the same way... i am a graphic designer and I wanted thermography, so instead of designing my own invite, I ordered them online... they ended up coming out horrible, and the company refused to fix them, so i ended up making my own invites in the end and they were 'flat printed' I got so many compliments on my invites that I was so happy it turned out the way it did...

wait for her sample, and if you are happy with it, then go for it... there are SOO many invitations out there that arent printed with the thermography, and in the end, i dont think many people will notice... only some of us crazy brides!

OMG, I would have been so PO'D if that happend to me... I am happy to hear that your guests still loved them even when they weren't thermographed. Like you said, I am going to wait for the sample to see how it is and make my decision from that point.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience; I appreciate it.

Re: Question re: thermography and invitations (Pippy Sweets)..

check out the Costco website for thermagraphy invites. They seemed to be extremely reasonable.

I just received a sample from Diana for my STD. I was not thrilled with the paper quality but she mounted the paper onto metallic cardstock which made it feel a bit heavier. I'm not too sure what paper she uses for the invites. I am sure she can use different cardstock if you request it.
