QUestion regarding bringing a new dog into the house??
We jsut got a puppy, but since we live with my parents, they have 2 dogs of their own. One dog is so afraid of the new puppy, what do we do to make her not so afraid of him. If the puppy is in the room, she will run.

i live with fh's parents and they have a dog of their own too. when i got my new puppy their dog was sooooo afraid of it, it would run away and cry. we just kept putting them together outside and in the kitchen and in about 3-4 weeks they were best friends. they love each other now. it will take awhile, but the other dog will get used to him.

Okay great, I am jsut so scared my mom will regret her decision to let me get my DH a puppy. We figured that of the two dogs, she would be the aggressor, and the other one would be afraid, boy were we wrong.

we thought the same, we thought the new dog would be scared. it will be fine, they'll be playing in no time.

She is running not because she is afraid....her territory is being invaded, plus he is a male dog...is he bigger than her? To help alleviate the situation.....hold Ponch and if the girl dog can be held...hold her to...coax her with treats and tell her it's ok...hold Ponch as she approaches to sniff him....also...have the 'meeting' in a room that is primarily hers....she'll feel safer on her own territory than in a room where Ponch dominates.

She has the whole house!!!!
But she is alot bigger then the puppy, i will try what you suggested. This is just not at all what we expected, we figured she would be nasty, sicne she growls at my mom's other dog, when he plasy with a toy, and barks at him to move on the couch.
