Question regarding HM and the 'rents . . .

My parents' birthdays BOTH fall while we plan on being on our HM. We plan on leaving the 12th of July and returning the 22nd or 23rd. My parents' b-days are the 17th and the 22nd. Should I feel bad about this? I can't help but feel crappy about it, but at the same time, what can I do about it?

You can always do something after you get back and you can buy them some cool presents on your HM. I'm sure they'll understand.

My favorite aunt is having a 50th bday party the week after and I won't be here. She said I better get her a good gift! Just do that! Get them killer gifts and they will be fine!

I don't think you should feel bad. Im sure they completely understand. It's your honeymoon!!

you could always just send them something before you leave or bring them something back if you want, or call them on their birthday.

Personally I know my dad would probably say 'Get over it, go have fun, you only get to do this once!' heh I love my Dad.

I am sure they will understand. My sister was on her honeymoon for Father's Day last year. My dad didn't care. We just held off and celebrated it a week later when they got back. We will be on ours for FFIL's 70th but already told him we will have a celebration when we get back. Don't feel bad.

Why not arrange to have something delivered to them for their birthdays while you are away...this will show them that you are thinking of them even while you are on your honeymoon. A nice gift basket or flower arrangement will do the trick. On the note you could promise a dinner celebration when you get back...

I don't know what your finances are, but if you could swing it, maybe hide something like tickets to a broadway show, or to dinner or to a weekend getaway or anything in their house somewhere and call them up on their birthdays and tell them you hid something somewhere and tell them to go get it while your on the phone with them. Or having something delivered to them on their birthdays is a good idea too as mentioned above!! But definitely don't feel bad, they wouldn't want you to. Its only one birthday you'll miss!!

I like the idea of hiding their gifts!!!!! Thanks- I kind of felt the way the rest of you girls do, I just felt this VERY TINY twinge of guilt- thanks for helping it to pass

did you deliberatly plan you hm so you would miss both your parents b-days? absouletly not. i'm sure they will understand, just have a nice dinner when you get back. i'm sure they are going to want to hear about the hm anyway.

the idea of hiding something was great -

you could also take a picture of you two on your HM with a sign reading 'happy birthday - miss you!' and email it to them...

You get married ONCE and your parents birthdays happen every year. They'll forgive you.

Enjoy your honeymoon, just be sure to call home for 5 minutes on each of those two days.

dont feel bad about it, send them a post card on their respective b-days, and plana special birthday dinner at your new place as soon as you get back
