Next step for FH and I to do is to think about our honeymoon destination. We have some places in mind but really haven't discussed it in depth. We plan to go to a travel agency to get some ideas and prices.. My question is, realistically, what should we expect to spend on our honeymoon? We would like to go away for 7-10 days.
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
Totally depends on where you want to go, and whether you are going all-inclusive or paying for your meals. Aruba, for example, is very expensive for food/drinks, and doesn't have many all-inclusive resorts.
Edit: We were quoted about $5,000 for Sandals (St. Lucia and Grand Bahamian) for 7 days including air, but it wasn't the top of the line room.

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
Yes it definitly depends..but I think going all-inclusive is the way to go...If you go away for 10 days and not all-inlcusive, you will spend a fortune on eating and if you drink, even more. It is usually more, but definitly worth it. IMO
FH and I are going to St. Lucia for 4 nights and Antigua for 6 nights, at both places we are staying in Sandals.
Just saw Nov04LI edit and I must edit mine as well...
we are staying in not a top of the line room also, but when I read the reviews..almost all the people that said they were on their honeymoon got upgraded. I woud rather take the chance than pay the difference..its a big difference in price for a good room

Depends on where you go, where you stay. Even what time of year, since there's high season and low season.

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
It really depends on where you decide to go. I would say budget at least $5k to keep alot of options open. You can definitely find HMs in the carribean for less, but if you budget this much you'll have alot more options available to you. Another tip is get prices and quotes from agencies without telling them it's a honeymoon first. Sometimes they jack up the prices just because you say it's a HM and the only difference is that there will be a bottle of champagne in your room!

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
I was thinking that also about them jacking up the prices, but they don't I tried to book it online, using expedia and those services and it was more money, they don't know I'm booking a honeymoon, some of the hotels will give you breakfast in bed or even a picnic, basket of stuff in you room.
Then everyone will you MR AND MRS when you get there!!!!!!!

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
We are doing a 7 night Royal Caribbean cruise. It leaves out of San Juan, PR so we will fly into San Juan 3 days early to spend some time there before we board our cruise. So for: airfare, the hotel in San Juan, the 7 night cruise (with balcony ), it is costing us $4,300.

Re: Question regarding Honeymoon
I'm going to jump in on the 'it depends where you go' bandwagon -
FH and I want to go to Bora Bora/ Tahiti? Morrea for 10-12 days - and we are budgeting about $10-12K for it - of course in that we are considering staying at really good hotels and the overwater bungalows which jack the price up tremendously.

Totally agree. It's tough to set a standard HM spending limit when there are so many options to choose from.
If budget is a concern, your best bet is to set one and visit with a few travel agents, with some ideas of what you both like in a vacation - and go from there. Good luck! This was the MOST fun part!!
