Question regarding invitations

My wedding is about 6 months from now and I didn't order my invitations yet. I plan on ordering them within the next week or two. How long does it take for the invitations to be made and when should they be mailed out? I would think two months prior to the wedding and give people 1 month to respond, is that the right way to do it?

You have time to order them. Usually they take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month to arrive. The mail date should be 8-12 weeks before your wedding, the RSVP date should be 4-6 weeks before the wedding. This is my breakdown:

Wedding date:

5-27-05

Ordered Invites:

2-7-05

Mail date:

3-18-05

RSVP date:

4-18-05

Regarding a time line for printing your invitations, I encourage couples to work backwards from your wedding date. How long before it do you need to make final decisions about food and other details? Then go backwards again from there. Allow your guests 2-3 weeks to respond to your invitations, allow a week or more for them to receive your invitations, allow yourself time to address and send them, etc. On my end, from the time I have everything in house (the paper, typesetting/artwork, ink, etc.) it generally takes me a week and a half to ship your invitations. Allow a few days for them to reach you. As you do all this backing up,
you will approach the time when you have a deadline for getting your invitation typesetting to me. Along the line, you should build in some fudge time for things to go wrong. Having made these calculations, you should arrive at a time when I need to have your typesetting and instructions for exactly what you want in house. Of course, if you can provide even more time, that is great for both of us.

I'm sitting here bugging out thinking to myself I need to order them like right now and thought it takes a lot longer than 2 weeks until they come in.

I just got my invitations too. I ordered them from Now and Forever, and it actually took less then two weeks, so you will be fine!!

same here, I LOVE now-and-forever.com!! they did an amazing job and the price was awesome!

I was just thinking about the same thing---I am so relieved to be reassured I have time to order my invites!!

What would I do w/out LIW????!!!

You have time.

I ordered my invitations from whiteaisle and they took about a month or so to come in.

You have time but its obviously better to order it a little early incase of any mistakes or shipping delays
