Question regarding timing of invitation mailing

Question regarding timing of invitation mailing

Everything I have read has indicated that the proper time to mail your invitations is 8 weeks before your event. However, from what i have been seeing on this board it seems that everyone sends their invitations out much sooner. I am wondering if this is now the norm.

My wedding is Oct. 12th. I sent out save the dates five months ago. I plan on sending out my invitations on August 16th, exactly 8 weeks before. My RSVP date is September 15th.

What do you girls think? Is this ok? If you received my invitation would you think i was sending it out really late?

As usual...i am so confused

I did and am doing the same as you - I think it is perfect - If you didn't send the STD cards than maybe you should send them out sonner -

I really don't think its necessary to send them out any sooner than eight weeks...especially if you sent a save the date. People will just wind up losing the invitation and directions if you send them too early, IMO. You're right on track!

That sounds fine to me.

I think you're perfectly fine.

I'm sending ours out earlier than 8 (about 10-12) weeks because we're not doing STDs and we're getting married over Labor Day weekend.
