Background: Since our wedding is out of town for all of our guests we had orginally planned on a small very casual dinner for all the guests the night before the wedding.
FMIL really wanted to host a RD for the 'immediate family' and wedding party the night before the wedding. It was important to her so we said okay.
Now one of my Aunts how is doing a reading for the wedding ceremony does not want to attend to RD unless her sister, another aunt, is able to come. FH has a huge with several aunts and uncles and they will not be attending the RD only the ones in the wedding party.
Now I'm stuck between making my aunts happy and not imposing on my FMIL, who is doing so much for the wedding already.
I just feel bad that my aunt made me feel bad about my wedding. Yes, people are having to travel, but so are we, we live in CA and all of our family on the east coast, including these aunts. We tried to accommidate both of our families by having it back east. Plus this is the nicest wedding any of my side of the family has 'ever' had. In the south receptions are often just cake, nuts, and punch. We are paying for the wedding all on our own except for the RD and florist which FMIL is covering.
My aunt wasn't demanding that the other be invited, but it made me feel bad that she would not come without her
Thanks for letting me vent a bit.....

Re: Question (vent kind-of) on RD guests long
Maybe have a 'rehersal' dinner 2 days before the wedding so your aunts can attend and then have a family dinner the night before. Sorry you are being put in the middle

Re: Question (vent kind-of) on RD guests long
Most of the party is not arriving until the day prior to the wedding.
I think we'll probably have a couple of night before activites after the RD (which is early) for all the guests since we will all be at the same hotel.
It just made me feel so bad when my aunt was like, we'll we are traveling so far and want to visit with each other. Hey, they are staying in the same hotel and the wedding itself will be 5 1/2 hours of visiting.....

Marcia,
I am sorry that you are being torn. I am sure it will work out.
