Can't you ask the salon to tell you the name of the designer. I hate when salons do that! I would never buy my gown w/out knowing who the designer is. I think it is soo unfair that bridal salons do that, esp. since bridal gowns can be very $$$$.
As for the color, I would say go with whatever looks good on you. I personally love ivory. White washes me out.

i tried to get the designer when i looked and then went online to the designer's webpage to find it.....i hate the fact they wouldn't give me the model no.'s either.....

Re: questions about bridal gowns...

When I was in the dressing room, I peeked at the label inside the dress. However, I forgot to do this for the dress I bought, so I have no idea who the designer of my dress is. I bought my dress off the sample sale rack and know that it is a couple of years old. I also did not pay a lot of money, so it didn't really matter to me who the designer was and whether I could get a better price somewhere else.

As for ivory, if it looks good on you, go for it! White washes a lot of people out and ivory looks better on some people. My grandmother was originally against me wearing any other color than white, but when she saw me in a white dress and an ivory dress, she quickly changed her mind. Good luck dress shopping!

definatly peak inside the dress or ya know those strings they use to hang the dress up they usually have the designers name plastered all over them.

You can also do a search on line. If you put in the type of dress (short sleeves, halter, cap sleeved, etc..) and the type of skirt (a line, ball gown, mermaid, etc..) the search engine will show you what comes up and you may be able to look at those gowns and find yours.

as for color you have to see what looks best on you.

Re: questions about bridal gowns...

It is illegal for a gown company to cut the tags out of their dresses, but many do. If they won't tell you who the designer is, leave. You don't want to pay $1000 for a dress that's only worth $500. The argument they make is that if they tell you you'll get it elsewhere cheaper. Well, if you could get it cheaper, then you shouldn't be getting it there!

There are plenty of places that won't do that, or go directly to designers themselves, at least then you know who made your dress!

I thought I'd be going with a silvery white. I ended up with diamond white (an off white). Just see what looks best on you!

Re: questions about bridal gowns...

One salon I found my BM dresses in wouldn't tell us the designer. So I waited about a week, then called, saying that my BM who live out of town wanted to see it so I was looking for a pic online but forgot who the designer was... IT WORKED! They told me the designer and the model # - try that.

I'd still be leery of buying from them. If you find out who it is, shop around and find it cheaper - that's what I did with my BM dresses. I ordered them from RK Bridal. (I've read some horror stories about that place on here lately but I didn't have any problems - you can also try NetBride.)
