Questions about cancelling a wedding....

Hey girls,
Quick question....I know I read about this somewhere and need your help...my cousin is looking to cancel her wedding in May...can she get out of the contract or get any of her money back??? I feel like there is some sort of law stating that you are able to get it back ..... is there?

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks...

I think it only applies if the reception is in Suffolk and the wedding is cancelled more than six months out. There's def. a thread with a link to the actual law somewhere. But given the wedding date you mentioned, not sure this would even apply

Re: Questions about cancelling a wedding....

A family member cancelled a Nassau County wedding 6 months before the date a few years ago. Most of the vendors were understanding and did not make them pay the balance. They did, however, forfeit the deposits that had already been paid.

I would suggest that your friend check the terms of her contracts (which probably specify what will happen in the event of a cancellation) and contact the vendors ASAP to see what can be worked out

Maybe it matters why they're canceling? Can she word it in a certain way that would help get the money back?

Sorry I bumped this one.

I cancelled my first RH and have not gotten the money back-they are keeping 1k of it for I guess loss.

I wont get the money back until AFTER my wedding and IF and ONLY IF someone takes my room with the same minimum. Supposedly its a Nassau law...
