questions about day of wedding

Is anyone here not getting ready at home? I am thinking of getting ready at my hall. They have a huge bridal suite. I am not sure about this though. This would mean that I really wouldnt need a limo either. Also while I am asking all these questions, Since I am having my ceremony at the hall my FH wants to take pictures before the ceremony. It makes sense (so we can attend the cocktail hour). I am not sure about how I feel on this one either. Any advice is welcomed....thanks.

questions about day of wedding

I am not taking pics before, but there is like a 2 hour gap bt my reception and the church - I think it's nice to not see each other right before, but reading other threads on here, people say it makes you much more calm and relaxed for the ceremoney. I would have done it if I had to.

what Im doing...

I'm having the hair and makeup done at my moms house...video will come early, b/c he showed me a great montage of clips of someone getting ready and I loved it...Photographer is not vcoming (I just don't like those shots)

My parents offered to drive me to the hall, but I think my BMs will be at my moms house, so I may get a limo for an hour to drive all the girls to the hall.

I will put on my dress and fix up in the bridal suite and photog will meet us there...FH will come in our car (which we will leave the hall in)

Photos are scheduled 1 1/2 before wedding and then 20 mins after the ceremony.

hope this helps

questions about day of wedding

We are taking photos prior to our ceremony, although I never thought that I would want to do that until we realized that after our ceremony the sun would go down. (3:00pm full mass in November). So after speaking with our photographer and video company and a few other brides we decided it was a perfect solution. The video company said they would make sure it was a very private moment for us. In fact, they said in their experience taking photos prior to the ceremony can be more emotional than after because you are not on display in front of so many people. But I don't know if I would have done it if not for the sun-light problem.
In regards to getting ready at that hall: The only thing I would be worried about is that I would not have everything I need right there and would be stressed about forgetting something. But with some careful planning it might work just fine.

I'm similar to Yabbobay ...

my video guy is coming to my house, not my photographer - I only have him until 5:30 and that's with an 8:30 start - so I want to get to the hall by 8:30 and have him take pictures until the end. My FH and I are taking pictures before the ceremony. I am getting ready at home!
A limo is picking him up and the guys - dropping them off at the hall and then picking up us girls at my house. Technically, we have to pay for 3 hours - it just didn't make sense to get 2 limos. We got an Excalibur to pick us up afterwards. Then the party - well close family and friends - are coming back to my house for more fun.
Good lUck!

I have the same situation. I like the fact that I won't have to spend money on a limo if I have get dressed there. Mine is at Villa Lombardi's, where's yours?

We are getting married at the ahll too. I felt funny about seeing each other before the wedding. I really wanted that first moment where he sees me to be me walking down the aisle but it really made more sense to do the pictures before the wedding. This way we can completely enjoy the cockctail hour and the recption.

Also consider just a town car

If it is just you and your parents you might be able to get a town car. That is a lot less than a limo and will get you to where you are going just fine.

I am doing the whole shebang at the hall. the bridal suite is nicer than my whole house! We are not seeing each other before. doing the pictures after the ceremony during the cocktail hour. I kind of never wanted to be at my own cocktail hour. I guess I always thought it was for everybody to kind of get to know each other and mingle a little without the bride and groom there. Just personal opinion! I know almost all brides do it before hand and say that they are thrilled they made that decision because they didn't miss a thing!

Make it a special moment

We took our pictures before the ceremony and I have to say I think it was more special that way. We went to the hall separately and my husband waited with his back to me at the gazebo. When the photographers were ready they told him to turn around and for me to walk toward him. I have to say it was a moment I will never forget. There were only a few people around and my husband cried which I know he never would have done in front of all our guests. We were both much less nervous for the actual ceremony and we got to completely enjoy our cocktail hour. I would do it the same way again.
