Don't laugh...but what does the DOC actually do? Do you find that having one is a necessity? And does anyone have an idea of what the cost would be? Any recommendations?
My FSIL and I were having breakfast today and she was astonished that I didn't have a DOC lined up yet...like something was wrong with me...lol. To be honest, I didn't even think about it until she mentioned it and now it's bothering me. Maybe a DOC is something that I really need? So here I am, getting some info. Any help would be appreciated! TIA!

Re: Questions about DOC
DOC's basically give you ease of mind and believe it or not they are not that expensive. I have seen quotes from $250-$400. DOC's are there to deal with any unforeseen events and make sure that the timeline is being followed and do check in's with the vendors. This is what I am getting from my DOC.
Unlimited phone and email contact between date of contract and date of wedding Attend final reception hall and florist appointments Confirm wedding plans with all vendors one week before Attend ceremony rehearsal (up to two hours) Create wedding day timeline One coordinator (up to 6 hours) to arrive at bride’s location to assist in morning preparation One coordinator (up to 6 hours) to oversee set up of ceremony and reception locations Check bride and groom into wedding night hotel (if needed) Arrangement of processional and recessional Arrangement of receiving line Distribution of flowers Distribution of programs at ceremony Distribution of rose petals, bird seed, bubbles, etc. after ceremony Oversee setup of place cards, menu cards, favors, centerpieces Provide bridal emergency kit Bustle bride’s gown (if needed) Distribute vendor gratuities Collect bride and groom’s personals at the end of the reception Attend to unforeseen challenges and obstacles that may occur
And this only for partial DOC services!

I don't know exactly what JT offers but there is a difference between the bridal attendant which almost all venues provide and a DOC.
The bridal attendant is for that day only, making sure you're fed, that things are smoothly etc. Whereas the DOC encompasses every part of your day, including some pre-set up stuff and takes care of whatever mistakes your venue itself may make.

This exactly.
A bridal attendant won't know what is in your DJ, photo, video and florist contract.

Re: Questions about DOC
I emailed gerard when I was thinking about it and he made me feel a lot more sure that I don't need one. if you're getting married at a church it might be a bit more needed I think

yeah my sister got married there and Francesca was included in the JT price up until the wedding. but then her DH purchased the DOC package for her bday- it was so worth it, Francesca is great and took care of so many would-be problems that day

Re: Questions about DOC
Francesca is expensive as a DOC. At least 1000. You can find other DOC's ranging from 250 and up.

Re: Questions about DOC
I'm getting ready, getting married, and having the reception all at the same place. To be honest.. I got a DOC (2 to be exact with AMDA) because I don't want to deal with the stress of my family asking me about contracts, timelines, etc. This way.... it's all taken care of. If there's a problem with ANYTHING at all, I have the extra insurance. Honestly.. for less than $500.. that is totally worth it.
.. I just called FH one day and I said I bought myself a present.

Re: Questions about DOC
I had much debate on this topic with FH and family friends & they all talked me out it. They said it would be a complete waste of money. This is the reason why venues have bridal attendants and matrie D. They take care of most of the details. I have seen DOC as low as 250 so I guess its a matter of preference. I also spoke to my Banquet Manager who told me it was a complete waste of money so that kind of sealed the deal for me.
