Questions about Engagement Photos...Again!

Questions about Engagement Photos...Again!

Ok, so FH & I have pretty much decided on DUMBO for photos. Now I am totally clueless on BK so maybe you ladies can help. I am thinking FH & I will make a day out of it & get a nice dinner around there after the photos.

question one is- Do you ladies have any reccomendations for somewhere good to go near where we will be to eat that wont cost us an arm & a leg?

question two is- what should we wear? I don't want formal pics, something more edgy. I was thinking jean capris with a solid blouse, cute blazer, and fun heels. Or should I go with a maxi dress? Why do I find these engagement pics more stressful then exciting? ugh! As for FH Im thinking nice dark jeans, dress shoes & and button down or maybe a coordinating polo to my outfit?

question three is- how many of you actually tipped the photographer? I was thinking $50

I know nothing about BK so I can't suggest any good restaurants but I can answer the other two questions!

I think the jean capris with a blouse, blazer, and heels will be super cute! I feel like a maxi dress is more for a beach engagement shoot but that's just my personal opinion. As for your FH, I think dark jeans and a polo would be perfect.

FH and I are having our engagement shoot in a couple of weeks and we're not planning on tipping our photographer until the day of the wedding. We're already paying so much for the photography and the place we're going to has an entrance fee, which we will pay for.

Questions about Engagement Photos...Again!

Ok... so you NEED to go to this SUPER yummy pizzeria that is pretty famous in brooklyn http://grimaldisnyc.com/about/ There is usually a short line outside, but the wait is quite worth it. Yummy brick oven pizza- very small inside, only cash is accepted and you can't simply get a slice, you have to do a whole pizza, but SO much fun!

I definitely think you should do jeans and some sort of fun shirt/blazer combo. Skinny jeans could work really nicely with a pair of heels and if you have the blazer than you can keep it on for some pictures and take it off for a few others for a different kind of look! I definitely think FH can do darker jeans and either a button down shirt or a polo... I think a polo might be nice since you won't be TOO fancy either.

As far as tipping, I dont know the answer to this myself, but I am thinking something small like $20-25 is more than enough!

Hope I've helped!!

Agreed! The line will be long but well worth it. If you're looking for a nicer sitdown meal, Juliana's is also very tasty and right next door to Grimaldi's. The prices aren't high and it's actually the location of the original Grimaldi's with the original pizza ovens! http://www.yelp.com/biz/julianas-pizza-brooklyn

I think the jeans capris for you and the polo for FH would look great! I am not sure if I will tip the photographer, so can't help you out there.

As for Brooklyn, I've been to both Grimaldi's and Juliana's, and these are excellent suggestions- not pricey and great food (Have to wait in line for a while for Grimaldi's though, but worth the wait). After dinner, you could go to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for ice cream if you like..

I know nothing about Brooklyn so I can't help you on that but i can help with the last two questions. I agree that the Maxi is very beachy and if you are using Dumbo as your site, then you want more edgy so go with the blazer.

Also I just did my pictures last thursday and I went through the same dilema. I DID tip my photographer. I gave him $40. He stayed for a couple of hours and traveled a good distance. In addition we had a lot of fun taking the pictures and the ones he showed me on his camera I LOVED! I can't wait to get them back! Anyway, when I gave it to him he was SUPER APPRECIATIVE which made me even happier that I gave it to him! Why not give a little tip to the man who is going to develop your memories :)

If you just so happen to be doing your e-pics on a Sunday, I totally recommend you go to Smorgasburg. It's right in Brooklyn Bridge Park and has like 80 food vendors from the area sampling their foods for decent prices!

Edited to add: Jimmy's Diner or Roberta's Pizza are amaaaaazing and decently priced!

Yay! I just had my e-pics there. I'm obsessed with that area. Definitely skip the line at Grimaldi's and check out Juliana's (this is the original owner of Grimaldi's who opened up in their own location for revenge!) Another great spot that FH and I love is called ReBar. We've only gone there late night, but they're a full service restaurant as well as bar. Pedro's is good too and it looks like it's pretty cheap. Plus it's right next to The White Gown, so maybe you can stop in to look at some accessories while FH gets you guys a table lol.

My one warning for taking your pics in DUMBO is make sure you bring along comfortable shoes. Most of the roads are cobblestone and by the time we were done, my feet were black and swollen from trying to balance myself in heels on the uneven surfaces.

We tipped our photog $50.

When are you taking them???

Take a small trip to Williamsburg, you'll get cheap eats...and a really good all around vibe. Great outdoor spots to eat!

Let me know how they go, i'm doing mine with Jay on June 11th in Williamsburg BK :) I'd go with the casual look, blazer/blouse/heels. Your pics will be gorgeous in DUMBO!

This! And I agree, Williamsburg isn't far from Dumbo and has many places you can eat at very decent prices.
