Questions about TTC....

I am not TTC but I went off the pill last month and we decided to let 'nature take its course.' At this point, I don't want to have to 'think' about getting PG by charting or otherwise. If it happens, great. If it doesn't happen, within the next year, then I will definitely start charting and exploring other options.

However, I have a few questions about this plan of action. Is it bad if I get PG so soon after going off the pill? (I hear some docs tell you to use alternate form of BC for the first month or 2 after going off the pill.) Also, are you supposed to stop drinking during the 2WW? (though technically, I won't be waiting....)

I actually got pregnant when I was on the pill -and thankfully I had a very healthy little boy.
Also - about the 2WW and not drinking - I didn't know I was pregnant so I did that too. But I don't think it can cause any real problems that early on - although I'm sure there will be different opinions on that.


ETA: I just wanted to add that - right now I AM ttc, so I could not knowingly drink if I knew there was a chance that I was pregnant.

i'm in the same boat as you..just got off the pill after being on it for 10 years. I am not TTC yet either, and we are taking precautions to not have that happen yet.
I think i would feel better ttc when i knew that my body was free of everything.( like bc & drinking)

Most people I know drank early on in their pregnancy, before they even knew they were pregnant and everything was fine. I'm not trying to encourage you to be a raving alcoholic while you're trying or anything, but I think you're fine to continue having a glass of wine with dinner or champagne on New Years.
As far as the pill goes, I do believe you're supposed to let your body clean itself out, but I also know people who got pregnant immediately after going off the pill and their babies were fine.
