Questions about Westbury Gardens or Planting Fields for pictures?

How long before wedding did you get in contact with either to set up a reservation?

If a lot of guests want to come to watch the pictures being taken, do they all have to pay to get in too?

Do they allow a lot of brides to take pictures at the same time?

How much does each cost?

Thanks, and any other info you can give me that I couldn't think to ask is appreciated.

I wanted to take pics at Old Westbury Gardens but my photographer advised against it. I was told that you get a guide that walks you through the gardens to show you various places to get good shots. Since it is a popular place, there are other brides waiting behind you to take pics as well so the guides tend to rush you through (again, this is all info. I'm getting from my photographer). Planting Fields is just as beautiful and cheaper than OWG. HTH.

I'm heaing this a lot about OWG, that they are expensive and not enough time ect. Thanks!

I took my pics at OWG, the place was beautiful and my proofs came out stunning, but I did have to 'wait on line' while a bride finished her pics in front of the mansion. I didn't feel rushed along though, in fact I was exhausted by the time we were winding down and was completely ready to go. Every bride gets 1 1/2 hours for their pics and can choose 3-4 gardens (I can't remember).
I booked in April/May for my October 1st wedding, and they still had time slots available, I did think they were overpriced, but I've always wanted to take my pics there and splurged.
Good luck!

Not true.... you are alotted 1 1/2 hrs so there shouldn't be any rushing UNLESS u are late.

Pricing depends on the time of day you go there.

I am going in the morning and will be paying $275.

The later you go the more$$ .
My DOC said it is b/c of the sunset why they charge more in the evening.

Planting Fields fee is only $120. And again, just relaying info. from a photographer's point of view. Both gardens are gorgeous - just a matter of preference.

I'm pretty sure you can have up to 20 people...excluding photographers come with you...after that I think you have to pay a certain amount per every 5 people over 20.

Oh I had the best experience at Old Westbury Gardens! We were there from 3-4:30 on saturday June 10th and we didn't see any other brides! There were other brides there, but we didn't see them and we were NOT rushed at all! We were able to take our time, no brides before us or after us waiting. We took pics on the lawn in front of the mansion, then in a few of the gardens. It's so beautiful there and worth the $. Plus, it was great knowing that in case it did rain that we had somewhere to take pics indoors. The inside is beautiful too, so i've heard.

I can't remember if it was $250 or $350... but I know if your time slot starts after 3 then the price goes up more.

I called in Jan/Feb and they only had the 3pm timeslot open... so we took it. I'd call ASAP if you want to take pics at OWG.

I think they allow 20 people (3 or 4 cars) and then it's extra if you want more... but call to make sure that is correct.

Check out my review to see pics.
