Questions about who gets response cards - especially for OOT Brides

Where are your RSVP cards being sent? I know traditionally it's supposed to go to the bride's parents house. Being the control freak that I am, I don't really want them to go to my parents house in NY.

Would it look bad if they came to me in Chicago? FMIL suggested putting her address since she only lives a few blocks away from us.

Where did/are your response cards going?

Mine are going to my mom. But, as they arrive, she is opening them, calling me, and telling me who is/isn't coming. So, we're both keeping a tally

My parents live in LI, I live in NYC. We addressed the response cards to my parents c/o me at my address (my SIL did the same thing when she got married).

we are did this as well.

Depending on when you are leaving Chicago to come to NY for your wedding you might want to have them go to LI...we had quite a few that arrived in the mail the week of the wedding.

I live in MD and my wedding is in NY. It was important for me to take care of ALL the details. I am having the response cards sent to my home in MD. I say do what is the least stressful for YOU.

I had all of mine go to my parents home and mom would call me each day with the responses and I made a list from that - they kept all of them so when I came home I could see them all. They also kept a list -

I live in VA and have the responses coming to me. I didn't even consider sending them any where else. Too many 'rules' we struggle with existed when daughters lived at home with their parents until they were married. I say, times have changed and we should do what we want, not what is 'expected.'

I didn't even think about those of people who send then the week before the wedding. I can't believe people actually do that.

send them to yourself... you need to keep track of whos gonna be there... plus its gonna be fun opening them...

I live in NJ...my parents are on LI. I had them sent to me at my address. I'm a control freak....I wanted to be in charge!

Steph - where did you get your invitations?

I am so clueless to wedding stuff here in Chicago, we don't have a site like LIW here. We found an invitation that we liked online, but I couldn't find it at the few places that I went to. So I am now working with Jodi from Simplicity Planning (vendor here), hopefully I'll order them today. I am so behind!

Thanks Ladies, for all the comments. I think I will have them sent to me here in Chicago. FH isn't coming to NY until Thurs before the wedding so he'll check the mail til then.
