Questions about yarmulkes for future & past brides

What color did he wear? The jewish guests wear?
Does the groom have to wear a white yarmulke (or that which matches the bridesmaids dress color?)
I was thinking of buying plain black ones - is this OK?

My mother really wants me to order white but I'm leaning toward black since I'm having a Black Tie affair. I know that traditionally grooms wear white kippot but I think that black ones may look more classy.

Is black a no-no - in the jewish religion - is it wrong to have black ones? (ie: is black is only worn during grievance, etc??)

FH's mother is crocheting WHITE yarmulkes for the BP. We are ordering leather yarmulkes in IVORY. Our wedding is also black tie and at any Jewish wedding (black tie or not) that I've been to, it has always been white or ivory. I always wanted that one shot where you could see the guests from the back with the couple under the chuppah. You just can't see the yarmulkes with navy or black. White or Ivory is a better choice IMO.

BTW...Black is not always for mourning, it is more commonly used in daily or weekly services.

we are using white satin ones. I wanted black sued but my mom insisted on white and I have learned to pick my battles....

We're having suede in brown, beige, and burgandy (to mix with the fall-color theme)

I don't think my parents even want to buy them but I do. Ivory seems like a nice shade.

I ordered black ones for my wedding....I acutally preferred black to white, but I'm not sure which is 'standard' for jewish wedings.

My BP was purple and silver. My MIL knitted yarmulkes for my DH and the guys in the bridal party. DH's was white with purple accents. The other GMs had purple with white. We had a light gray suede for the guests.

it really doesnt matter what color kippot you pick.
I'll be having ivory, but one of my friends had navy and another had multi-colored.

Good luck!

My guests yarmulkes will be the same color of the BM's dresses (as that's my color scheme). They will be brown. The bridal party (including FH), we are getting them either black swede, or black leather. My sister did that (and my rabbi wore a black one). So I don't think it's an issue. (I'm being married by an ultra orthodox rabbi)
