we are considering Glen Cove Mansion for our wedding. Wondering... 1) Do you have pictures of your setup in the reception room? Would love to see how you worked with the unusual shape and also decorations.
2) What room block rate were you given? Was it negotiable?
I don't have any pics since our wedding isn't until next May, but so far here is what we are thinking...(try to follow its hard to describe). As you enter the room, from that little room outside the ballroom the band will straight across on the window side. And our table will be in the middle on that side of the room.
As for decorations we are keeping it simple. Our centerpieces are a cross between high/ low. The flowers are low to the table and there are 3 pillar candles on 3 different height stands, hard to describe but very pretty. We are also having candles all along the window sills.
We don't have a block rate yet. We've actually just started looking in to it and are waiting to hear back. We do have rates from some other places though, so if its very high we can say we got whatever rate elsewhere and see what happens. Good Luck!! Sorry so long, and confusing

1) There's a map and layout on the website. Make sure you have the rooms you viewed included in the contract. From what we've seen theres a couple ways to set up the room, I really think it depends on the amount of people
2) Check expedia, AAA and those sites before signing for a rate with the hotel. We brought the print out with us showing a lower rate on the net and were told they only had a couple. We booked more than a couple and can cancel if need be.
