everyone is saying I can haggle with vendors. I'm just not sure which questions to ask. Any tips?

Re: Questions to ask
It can't hurt to say things like,
'Can you do any better on the price?' OR
'Okay, I understand the price is firm, but would you be willing to throw in a light show (to the DJ); 80 pictures in the album instead of 60 (to the photog); a viennese table (to the RH).'
Can't hurt to ask!

Especially in this economy I think you may be able to get things down...even things like minimum head count...our RH required a certain amount and I got them down to only 120 minimum headcount.

I agree. My RH was exceptionally accommodating! Pretty much anything I asked for, i was given. Even with things like changing the menu to something not originally offered. I had met with the actual owner of the place and I know that he just really wanted me to be happy, because then others will hear of my experience (not to mention all the guests that see it first hand) and then he's very likely to get more business. I am very happy so far with everything! So his plan succeeded
Like somebody said above, anything you may want, it can't hurt to ASK. Like getting more for your money, etc.

Re: Questions to ask
just like the economy is hitting us, I am sure that all the vendors are feeling it in some way too... so they are most likely always gonna give you a high price and if you ask to bring it down obviously they would rather have the business than get none at all... asking never hurt anyone... they worst they can say is no! Give them an idea of what would work best for you... see how that works!
