i apologize in advance for the ignorant questions.
i have a yearly exam in january and wanted to know what if there is anything i should ask the dr. in re: TTC. it is nearly impossible to get an appt w/ her (MONTHS), so i want to make sure to ask all the right questions now. we plan to start TTC in june, but wanted to prepare my body before doing so (stop smoking, cutting down on caffeine, healthy diet, pre-netals, charting).
even though i am regular, never been on the pill and have NEVER missed a period, i am a little nervous because i have had some abnormal paps and as a result had to have cryosurgery several years ago. thankfully, i haven't had any problems or any abnormal paps since.
any advice? will the dr. prescribe pre-natals even though i am not pregnant?

Re: Questions to ask Dr. in re: TTC
You're supposted to take the pre-natals before you get pregnant to prepare your body. My body did NOT like the pills the doctore prescribed, so I'm on the chewable Flintstones . The doc said that there's the correct amount of folic acid in those pills so I'm on 'em. When I first told my doctor that I was TTC he said, It may take from 2 to 9 months to conceive, don't drink or smoke and HAVE FUN! 2 months later, I was pregnant. Then you go in for a blood test and they check you out, plus give you all the info about becoming a mommy!
By the way...there are no ignorant questions. This is all new to you. Believe me, my head was spinning in the beginning, but you'll adjust. Just have FUN TTC!!!

ya-hoo Skew!!! Jump on the TTC train!!! Definitely get started on those pre-natal vitamins, they have so many different ones now that I'm sure you'll find one that agrees with you. I too had some problems with certain vitamins (tough on my stomach, caused some reflux, etc, nothing big though). What doctor do you see? I thinka slong as she knows your history, you;re in good hands! Have fun and Good luck!!

thanks! i just read the news about you. how exciting. tell DH i said CONGRATS.
my dr. is schneider. i have been seeing her for years and LOVE her.
i thought that you were supposed to take pre-natals prior to TTC, but a friend told me otherwise.
it's all very exciting. just hoping we find a house by june. of course the MOST important hing is being able to conceive and having a healthy baby, but in an ideal world i would LOVE to have a baby in either march, april or may, so june is when we are going to start trying.

- can i buy the PN vitimans over the counter or does the dr have to prescribe? any recommendations?
- should i buy a fertility monitor or wait until after we have tried for a month or so?

Ok, I am SOOOOO happy to help you with this!
You can buy pre-natal vitmins over the counter, or like Stefanie, take Flintstones vitamin daily so you get yourself ont he right track.
Sure, buy a fertility monitor to start tracking your cycles. Or start taking your basal temp (this worked for me all 3 times!), this will give you a good average of your cycle and ovulation for when you start in June! FM me is you need more help, I was lucky I got pregnant pretty fast with all 3 pregnancies and AI think it is because I started preparing 6 mnths prior to TTC, so when the time came I was well informed and totally aware of my body indicators and cycles, I guess I'm also lucky with just being very fertile too!
