Re: quick poll!
JMHO- I would either send out STD's or invites so your guests can decide what they would like to do on that date. You'll probably have a better turn out if people know about it in advance

Re: quick poll!
Personally I think a lot of people go away or host their own BBQ's, like someone else said, if you send out a STD or mention it very early than people can make arrangements accordingly.

If you are going to do it, I would send out STD's or let people know that you are planning something. But I would like that you could plan something for that weekend. You may not be able to get everyone to make it, but that could happen with any dat you pick.

Re: quick poll!
We go camping with a large group of friends every year. Our friends got married on memorial day weekend one year and FH and us were both in it. She sent save the dates, which is a good idea if you're getting married on a holiday weekend. Of course we went to the wedding, but we left early the next day to meet up with our friends that were camping.

Re: quick poll!
I'm biased...since my wedding is Memorial Day weekend.
For most of my friends and family (I included), we have bbqs at each other's houses during that weekend, so I personally think it's ok to host a party then.
For out of towners, I like that they can travel during that weekend and not miss a day of work for a party

Re: quick poll!
it really depends on your family. My family really doesnt go away on 3-day weekends, but my FH's family does go away. So, we didnt pick any 3-day weekends for that reason.
maybe you should ask your parents and in-laws to see what they think

Re: quick poll!
What kind of party are you planning? My wedding is that weekend. I know that is a weekend many people go away (me not being one of them) so I send STDs a year in advance.
