I haven't posted on here in a very long time, but I was wondering if any of you ladies could answer a question for me. Recently a friend of mine went to a bridal shower where the bridesmaids opened the gifts for the bride and they wrote down in the card who gave what. It wasn't done in front of the bride. Is this a new thing?

Re: Quick question
at my shower, my BMs unwrapped a lot of the gifts and wrote what the present was on the back of the cards .... then handed me the boxed gift & the card to read.
it was like an assembly line of sorts ...
not sure if its a new thing ....
it was done at my shower to help speed things up with the present opening.

I think she's saying the bride wasn't even seeing the gifts being opened??

Re: Quick question
Ive never heard of the bride not even looking at the gifts-that is strange. I have heard of the BP opening gifts and passing them off to the bride

Re: Quick question
maybe they meant for it to be like a 'display shower' -- did they leave the gifts out for everyone to see during the shower?
i have heard of brides who didn't want to spend time opening gifts, and doing that whole thing ... never experienced it first hand, but there are girls who don't want to go through that whole thing?!
people do weird things sometimes

Re: Quick question
No the bride never saw them being opened. My friend thought it was strange, and thought maybe it was a new thing. Thanks for answering, I'll let her know that it is not very common.

I have never heard of the bride not seeing the gifts. I honestly wish I didn't have to open the presents in front of everyone. I feel weird doing that, but I thought we had to.

Re: Quick question
honestly i think it's a little rude but that's jmo...it's one thing if it's a display shower, or like the a.p. said - u do have people write down the gifts as you open... but to have OTHER people open the gifts while u chat & mingle??? i dunno...sounds a little tacky & spoiled to me...hope i dont offend anyone - jmo..

I was thinking the same thing, its a little rude. Guests took the time to shop and then to not even open or look at them! If I was a guest I'd feel like it wasnt appreciated. JMO
