Quick Question

Not that I'm money hungry...lol: but I don't want to expect one thing & get another. I'm having about 175-200 people...I'm not registering for gifts so would people just bring cash...and if so about how much do you think I would get....total???

i would not bank of what people might bring - some people just dont know and they base it upon the service that they get - i know some people in my family will bring their checkbook to the RH and write out their check after they have had their dinner - also some people will give you next to nothing...

honestly it all depends... people give gifts based on many different factors like how well they know you, your relationshup with them, where you're having your recption and what they 'think' that costs per head, etc.

For example, DH and I had several gifts of $500.00 and then DH's best friend gave us a $50.00 gift card to Macy's!!! it will run the gamut.

Please don't buy things for your wedding/plan your wedding on what you think you will get from your wedding. It is rare for people to actually get as gifts what they put towards the wedding.

Agreed. Have the wedding you can afford and don't rely on gifts to finance it.

If you want to clue people in on wanting monetary gifts, the 'acceptable' way etiquette-wise is to have a very small registry.

I agree. What people gave us was $1000 down to $25.00. I didn't rely on what people were giving me either. I happen to come out even which was a surprise because we had a lot of generous people that we were not expecting to be generous. Also don't assume everyone will give you monetary gifts and there are ones who don't give a gift at all and with the economy where it is now just be happy that people give you a gift.
