Quick question about Manhattan addresses...

Are you guys spelling out

New York, New York 10004

or

New York, NY 10004

I'm not doing everything 'by the book', but spelling out New York, New York just seems so strange to me... what are other people doing?

I am no where near writing out my invitations but I am going to do New York, NY. Think of it this way, are you going to write Tampa, Florida?

is it a formal wedding? if its a black tie event then everything has to be formal including New York, New York or Cleveland, Ohio. If it is not a formal event then New York, NY is fine.

Actually, yes, you are supposed to do that. For my friends in Manhattan, I wrote out New York, New York, just as I wrote out San Antonio, Texas and Coconut Creek, Florida, etc.

You are supposed to spell all the words out on the envelope...States, Street, Avenue, Apartment, etc.

it is 'formal' but not black tie...

i'm picking and choosing how i word things and up until NYC i have spelled all the cities and states - new york, new york spelled out just seems so annoying to me...

i'm pretty much following this but refuse to spell out numbers...sometimes everything gets to be too long

Question? Does anyone really look at the invites address and say to themselves they are having a formal affair my goodness they didn't spell out New York?
I have learned to not stress about the small crap that comes up...no one will notice and if they do, who cares!! JMO

What may be small crap to you may be the little details that are important to others. Will it make a difference in the grand scheme of things? No. I did my own invitations and we're having a very small, intimate affair, but it will be somewhat formal and elegant. It's the little things that set the tone of an event. And believe it or not, people will notice, and I will care if they do. If we didn't care about what people thought, we wouldn't be putting so much thought into every minute detail of our weddings. There's nothing wrong with doing things right for the sake of looking good.

I believe the only numbers you are supposed to spell out is single digits.
