Re: quickie brides...

I wasn't that quick - 9 months for me... I would say book all of your major vendors first and then worry about the details. The most important things are the ceremony and reception - so book the church and/or officiant and RH first. Then look into a band or DJ. Then flowers, limo, etc.

Also, get your dress ASAP. You'll likely have to put a rush on it, so I'd get out and pick your gown soon!

Good luck - it can be done!

You can absolutely do it. What still needs to be done?

Re: quickie brides...

Solidify plans for the RH and church ASAP because those are the two most important things.

If you've already done research on major vendors (flowers, music, photo/video, etc...) and know what you want, narrow down the ones that you like and make appointments right away. Also look for your dress now because it might have to be rush ordered.

You'll be fine!

You can totally plan a wedding in 4 months and under.

The best part is that you can negotiate better prices since it is so last minute.

My cousin did hers in THREE (yep, 3) months and it came out great! For me, I'd be dying with the rush rush of things - because my FH has a weird work schedule so it's too hard for us to plan things too quickly) but you can DEFINITELY do it!

Finalize the hall, then book the church (or the other way around).

Then book your top priority vendor - for us, that was photography. Then book the other vendors.

I would highly recommend my vendors for great prices and service - check to see if they're available on your new date.

Good luck!

My friend is getting married in September and only got engaged about a month ago. It is definitely possible, you just have to be focused and determined.

Yep - did it in 6 weeks AND while in law school!! You can do many things while looking for the hall b/c these things are independent of the hall for the most part, so long as you know the DATE you'll be having it.

What can be done without having the hall IF you have SET YOUR DATE:

1 - All attire; ie your dress, bm dresses, tuxes, shoes, bra, veil, tiara, etc. Don't need to know your date

2 - Photo/Video -So long as you have an idea where you'll be having the wedding/reception (ie long island vs aruba), then location shouldn't matter to the photo/video person. Need to know your date.

3 - Favors - If you choose to do this, it can be done without knowing your hall or even your date.

4 - Hair/Makeup - If you know where you'll be getting ready, then you can book this regardless of whether you know your hall or not. Need to know your date.

5 - Gifts for the bridal party and parents. Don't need to know your date.

6 - Centerpieces if NOT flowers - see below. If you're doing something like candles, then you can buy this stuff ahead of time and wherever you choose just have it set up there. Need to know your date.

7 - Wedding Bands - including day of jewelry. Order this stuff ASAP b/c if you need to get yours custom made or special ordered (which was our case), it might take a while to come in. Don't need to know your date.

8 - Maybe can do Limo and DJ - see below. Need to know your date.

What cannot or possibly cannot be done without having the hall/church booked:

1 - Flowers - Unless you are doing wholesale or having someone else from your party set up your flowers (which is what we did), then the florist will have to know where to deliver the flowers.

2 - Limo - If you have the date, you can possibly do this without knowing the hall/church. But it will be difficult to gauge if you are getting a good deal or to haggle if you don't know for how long you'll need it (ie time b/w church and reception, etc).

3 - Linens - if you go this route, then you'll need to know where they have to set up.

4 - Invites - you must know your hall/church before doing invites.

5 - Placecards - this might be difficult to do if you don't know the setup of the place where you'll be having the reception. Plus, you still need to get the responses.

6 - DJ - Similar to limo, you might be able to do this without knowing the hall/church. But it might make a difference if they charge your for travel.

If I remember anything else I'll add it on. Any questions, please feel free to FM me again!!

I know it's going to be a whirlwind but it can be done. My friend did hers in 4 months and yes it was a PITA, but with some help she managed to get it done Best thing I can recommend is compromise and also have lots of energy to do stuff.
