I agree with Lisa on the snowflake - but they all look great. What would you do with these?

I think the butterfly looks great. I am NO expert so I have no idea about quilling, but I really like the butterfly.

The butterfly & flower are beautiful!! The snow flake looks good but I think it's too pointy.

Laura-they are beautiful! It's funny because I just spent last night teaching myself how to do these. I am making some for our holiday card swap--still deciding between poinsettias or holly leafs. It's amazing how a long strand of paper can be made into so many neat shapes, isn't it!

Re: Quilling- Please look
Erica, I have a whole book on it that was written by the owner of Scrapbook Alley in E. Islip. It has tons of instructions and pictures. to make a marquee shape, make a circle first then just squeeze opposite sides of the circle, to make a teardrop, make the circle and squeeze one side of it. If i ever get my scanner hooked up, i will scan some of the book for you and post it...

Re: Quilling- Please look
I agree on the snowflake-- am gonna try again
As for the others it really is easy once you get the hang of it--takes about 15 minutes per piece
that comes with everything you need-- I got it for about $20 so check Ebay first--
As for what I do with them-- I have used quilling pieces on a baby shower card
and just recently on a Bridal Shower card

Re: Quilling- Please look
You can definitely use your own paper, you just have to cut long strips and it should be with a medium-weight card stock or lighter. A heavier one (like construction paper) will probably be harder to curl. Quilling strips are sold in 12 inch lengths so it is perfect to cut up 12 x 12 paper. Most shapes are made with either 12 inch long strips, 6 inch, 4 inch or 3 inch so if you cut 12 inch you can always trim down. If you use 8.5 x 11 you would just have smaller shapes but i'm sure that would work too. In terms of width, they are about 1/8 of an inch wide.
