~~~~~QUOTD TUESDAY 1/5/2010~~~~~
So I'm posting a little early for Tuesday's question because tomorrow I get to sleep in soooo here it is! WARNING: not necessarily a good question if someone *coughFHcough* lurks....
:?
what is the most romantic thing (besides being proposed to) that a guy (FH or not) has ever done for you?
:?
I had been chatting with this guy online and on the phone for AWHILE and we really connected and we were meeting for the first time when I came to NYC for 2 weeks (i still lived in Canada at the time). He went to my hotel before I got there and put a mixed CD and flower in my room, and then had me meet him in the courtyard, with my eyes closed, and while I waited with my eyes closed and his flower in my hair (as per instructions) he walked up and kissed me! it was really sooooooo romantic! in the end it didn't work out, but he's a sweetie and we're still friends and even FH is friendly with him! I adore FH to bits and pieces but he's not the most romantic guy in the world....he may not be great at big gestures like this but its the little things he does that count
FH's proposal...His father is a helicopter pilot. FH told me we were flying into the city to see Wicked, because I really wanted to see it. We weren't going to make it in time if his dad didn't fly us in. The show started at 8pm, and at 7:50 we were hovering in the air near the statue of liberty talking about the sunset. I started getting antsy about being late for the show, and that's when he proposed...in front of the Statue at sunset. Most beautiful thing ever.
It was for our 2 year anniversary, and FH came to visit me in college in Boston. He got a hotel room for us and decorated the entire room with candles and rose petals.......that's when he gave me my promise ring and he 'promised' to marry me one day.
7 years later, I finally got the proposal
I think fh's proposal was the most romantic.....Im not a romantic person so his proposal was fun but it made my heart mealt! For me everyday little things are romantic like little love notes around the house or things like that are what I find romantic!
FH leaves me little notes around the house when he goes away...in my shoes, in the drawers, shower, refrigerator. If I go away, he'll slip them into my luggage. Sometimes he leaves them in my car after he uses it. It's such a small thing, but always makes me smile.
FH can be really sweet last year. When I was going thru chemo and going to school full time and working full time. When I got my grades and finished school FH brought me flowers and pajamas and a sweet card about how proud he was of all that I had accomplished and for dealing with the cancer so well. He always gives me great cards.
I'd never really had a proper Valentine's Day so the first V-day that FH and I were together he set up an elaborate dinner for me. I got home from work and my apartment was filled with candles, there were piles of stuffed animals and boxes of candy on the table. He cooked dinner for me, got a nice, bottle of wine, and even baked cookies (which were actually delicious, and this from a man who has difficulty grilling a burger!). It was SO sweet!
My fh played the piano and sang to me when we first started dating. We are actually using that song for our first dance.
I was dating FH about 2 weeks when he went to his mom's house in Florida for Thanksgiving. We hadn't talked about how we felt about each other at that point (though I knew I was head over heels) so I wasn't sure if he was still dating other people at the time. I got back to my apartment after the holiday and there was a bouquet of orchids waiting for me with the note, 'Monday can't come soon enough. -A' I melted when I read that and knew that he really liked me and that it was going to work.
Funny, I think I've gotten maybe flowers once since that day 2 years ago....ha!
