What kind of feel do you want to have for your reception? How do you picture your venue being decorated? What little added touches do you plan to do to make it more unique and personal?
Post pics if you can!

Re: *~R is for Reception~*
I want a really classy romantic feel at the reception. I think I've finally made a decision on colors- I'm going to use blush pink, taupe (which is like a slightly darker champagne), and gold.
The hall is WHITE- white marble floors, walls, ceiling, with huge windows that open onto the South Bay, and huge chandeliers. I'm using wall lighting from our DJ that will change color from yellow-pink. Centerpieces I see all different hights in glass vases & lots of candles. I really don't have a particular flower or one in mind to use for that matter.
To add a little bit of us to the reception, we will probably put some of our engagement pictures around, and i thought using pictures of places important to us in black and white could be used as table numbers (example- the restaurant we went to on our first date, central park where he proposed, ect)
I don't have any pics but I'm still brainstorming :)

Is it bad that I haven't put much thought into this? LOL
I guess for me I don't have much that I want to do/change - and I did that on purpose. I picked a place that already had a lot of elements that I liked, and certain things will just add to it (like the center pieces). In all honesty I have been trying to avoid adding too much b/c I don't want to take away from the space.
For example: uplighting from the DJ, I didn't want any b/c the ceiling at the Rivier is so awesome with the white rope lights and what not I didn't want to take away from it.
Just my opinion though - Jessie, what about you (RH twin). Are you adding additional touches?

I agree with this as well. The thing that I love about my RH is that it is simple and elegant. I really don't want to add too much to change the ambiance it already has. I want the feel of my reception to be understated, elegant and romantic. I will be having high cherry blossom centerpieces (the ceiling is really high at OFC so high centerpieces will fill in the space beautifully). I also want to add tealights/votives near the windows and in various places around the RH. To add a pic to this post and show one idea I have, this is how I would like to decorate the fireplace at my hall (the pic is of the actual fireplace at OFC). Instead of the flowers in the vases in the pic, I will have small vases (like in the picture) filled with cherry blossoms at either end and I'll have a vine going across the fireplace (just like the pic) but with pink roses attached. I will then have a bunch of different pillar candles with different heights going across the mantle.
Ugh I wrote a whole response out and my internet explorer went screwy and I had to shut down and lost everything I wrote
Now I am just typing bullet points...
- Laid back/relaxing feel to the wedding - Steel Drummer for ourtdoor CH - maybe decorate outdoor with some green and yellow lanterns over by where the food is being served. - some votives wrapped in decorative paper on the bar. - name plaque on either the cake table or head table - surprise groom's cake for FH - funny cake topper - scatter framed pictures of FH and I - bright low centerpieces - champagne cart greeting for guests. - Rose given to all mothers at the wedding in honor of Mother's Day (which is the day after the wedding).
I want a fun relaxed atmosphere! I def want it to look romantic but upbeat. I dont want a traditional wedding I want everyone to relax and have a blast!!!!

I want the look of the reception to be dim lighting, romantic feeling, gorgeous, classic, elegant, etc. I agree with a lot of the other girls in that I picked my venue bc I didn't want to really change it. I love the ballroom and the feel of it as it is that I don't really want to add anything (i.e. uplighting) but centerpieces (and even those I might keep plain - just candles to add a romantic feel). I definitely want to have a fun, upbeat party tho! One of the reasons why I fell in love with the woodlands is bc I saw pix of the place decorated with family portraits on the fireplace mantels and it made it feel like 'your home' and not a catering hall, so I def want to put pix everywhere of us, our parent's & grandparent's wedding photos, our cats, baby pix, etc..

Re: *~R is for Reception~*
I wanted a very elegant feeling (dark, wood) and a very formal atmosphere. The royalton, the riviera, the carltun, the westbury manor, the woodlands, and the old field club all kind of fit that description to me. I'd post pictures but a lot of those websites have them embedded where you can't take them off the site. So those are the places I have imagined for my wedding to look. To me, all those places speak for themselves.
I want simple decorations. Lots of flowers - deep red roses, sunflowers, and some babys breath. I also want everything else (clothing, linens, fabrics) to be all black and white with a touch of burgandy. I am going for a black and white theme, with a dark red as accent colors. I'd love to have a whole bunch of candles around. The flowers I chose, to me, are unique and personal. I also am trying to have my favors be custom made so they might look nice on the tables.
I kind of want the full blown black tie affair type feel at my wedding, with what I consider a picturesque back drop for photos- simple, candles, black and white, etc.
Now how to do all of this on a budget is beyond me LOL
