Rabbi

Hi ladies, I'm contacting rabbis for our wedding and would really welcome any referrals. What rabbi did you use? Did you like him? What did he charge? Was he orthodox, conservative or reformed? And any other info you think would be helpful!!! I really need some help please!! So far I only have two names (Rabbi Alan Stein & Rabbi Sebert).

Thanks!!!

Re: Rabbi

My rabbi was Howard Beuchler of the Dix Hills Jewish Center, he is really nice and he does a great job! He did my wedding and I saw him do a friend's wedding a while ago. I think he is convservative (Lieberman clause in ketubah, let me change the ceremony a bit to be more equal, you can wear whatever dres you want, etc.). I have no idea what he charges if he does a ceremony outside of the Jewish Center, but inside ceremonies he just requests that you make a donation to his charity fund.

We are using Rabbi Renee Feller. I met with her and loved her immediately. She is totally reform because she is marrying me on a Friday night! Send me fm if you want her info.

Anyone else please?

Rabbi Howard Nacht. He was absolutely amazing. He was a Cantor before becoming a Rabbi, so he has a beautiful voice. He is reform and will custom create your ceremony.
I love him!

We are using the a rabbi from a temple in Huntington. He was really amazing. He is handling our family situations with such ease. He is conservative. The rabbi walked us through everything. I am so happy with him. FM if you want his info.

How much have people paid for rabbis?

Also, has anyone had a clause saying you do not need to get a get???

Thanks....

OMG, I am so excited that I helped you out! I know you will have an awesome time! He has been DH's family rabbi for years, but he only just met my parents a few days before the wedding and they were very much at ease!

Re: Rabbi

Yeah, Rabbi Beuchler is amazing. Thank you SOOOOO much. We met with one other one and really didn't like him. He seemed very much like he was indifferent and only there for the money, but when we met with Rabbi Beuchler it was completely different. We had to ask what his fee was and for him it seemed like an after thought. He has such a lovely way about him I can't believe we found such a great person to officiate our wedding. YAY!!

Did anyone or is anyone getting the part about having to have the 'get?' Is that something you have to have? Just curious...

You are in good hands with Rabbi Renee. She was our Rabbi and I cannot express how wonderful our ceremony was. She writes the ceremony with you, is very open to working with your needs.

We also met with Cantor Judy who we also liked a lot. She is reform.

Hi, '07 bride here. I used Rabbi Raab and Cantor Reynolds. I recommend them, especially Cantor Reynolds. SHe has a beautiful voice. I think the cost was around $1000; but I can't remember exactly

If you haven't found anyone yet, I would recommend checking out www.interfaithfamily.com. There is a clergy referral service that may be helpful.

There are also some great wedding resources at www.interfaithfamily.com/weddingresources.

You only need at get if you have been divorced.

A jewish man must give his permission for his EX jewish wife to get re-married.

If the man does not want his Ex to marry again he can refuse to allow the get (a jewish divorce).

So if you have NOT been in a jewish marraige, you dont need a jewish divorce or get.
