Rabbi needed on a Friday night

Rabbi needed on a Friday night

Hi all,

I am getting married on a Friday night in June 2012. We are planning on having the ceremony before sundown, which is still late in the summer at 7:30. Can someone recommend a Rabbi who would do this? I have heard Reform Rabbis that don't have temples usually are able to.

Thanks

My Rabbi is marrying us on a Friday, after sundown. Provided that it's not a holiday, he has no problem performing one. Feel free to FM me for his contact info.

Rabbi Block - he's reformed, but can do anything you'd like as far as ceremony is concerned.

Give him a call 516-334-0887

Rabbi Nacht. He is reform and is very flexible. He also took time to go over the whole ceremony and service with fh (we're interfaith).

fyi, it's 'reform'. Not 'reformed'.

If the ceremony ends before sundown, it's technically not during Shabbat... which means that any rabbi should be able to do it.

I'm sorry... I've never heard of a rabbi being called a Reform Rabbi...

I'm actually more religious.

A Rabbi should be able to perform the ceremony on a Friday before sunday, however, most will not - esp. if it is at a RH that is not kosher, and travel time. I've called around to most Rabbi's that were more religious, but they wouldn't travel for me on a Sunday. I picked Rabbi Block because one of my friends used him, and he is doing more of a religious ceremony for myself and FH.

It would have to end well before sundown for many rabbis to do it because of travel time but both

Rabbi Roger Ross (who we used...he was awesome)
and

Rabbi Alan Stein

will officiate even during Shabbat

We are using Rabbi Stein. I do believe he normally would officiate on a Friday evening, however he is forming his own temple and will be holding Shabbat services there. Not sure how that would affect his schedule and open times for weekends.

Good point. He might be able to refer.

We went with Rabbi Ross. He cost a little bit more but we felt he took the time to get to know us and was warmer. He did a great job on our ceremony.

Funny, we chose Rabbi Stein bc he didnt want much time from us or to spend hours getting to know us! LOL! Funny how everyone feels so differently!

we are using rabbi hecht
My uncle knows him and he was willing to do a sat night in the summer before sundown (suring some 2 week period that you arent supposed to get married).
we had 2 meetings with him so far and a one more the week before the wedding. He is very personable and we hope the ceremony has nice personal touches since we have spent time with him.

FM if you want more info
