Me and DH are buying a hi ranch with nice oak wood floors. Currently it has a wrought iron railing for the statirs painted white. I am looking to update the railing but would a wood railing and ballisters look weird with the wood floors? Should it be painted wood? Another metal railing? Does anyone have a hi ranch with pics of their railing they can show me? Or any odeas where I can look at railings?

My Aunt switched her wrought iron for wood and it looks beautiful. I wish I had a pic for you. It just has such a more substantial look. - If that makes any sense.

I will take pics of our stairs for you tonight. We have wood stairs. painted wood spindles and a wood top railing and it looks fine!!

Is the railing the same color as her wood floors? My parents put in a wood railing but they have carpet. I just dont' know if you would be able to get the wood to match exactly

Marcella is your wrought iron painted? Or black? I like black wrought iron but don't know if I would get the paint off.

The old homeowners painted the railing a white/beige color. It looks kind of gloppy so I think it will be hard/impossible to remove so I think we'll have to go for a new railing.

oh yuck.. can't be sanded down huh?
are your stairs wide? remember that a thick wood railing would take away from the space that you have..

We have wood railings with wood floors and while they are not exactly the same color, wood rarely is. I think it looks fine. It doesn't stand out or look funny.
