Hey Girls... I need advice. I have been throwing around this idea for about a year now. Rainbow weddings were really 'in' back in the day. In fact my mother had a rainbow wedding and my nanny had a rainbow wedding. I thought I can give it a modern twist and do jewel tones. I am going back and forth especially since I having a wine/Tuscany themed wedding and wondering if I should just stick with the Berry color (4th dress in). What do you think???
How would you match the boys up? Would each be in a different color tie/vest?

Oooo don't want to boys to be too matchy matchy..I think we'd have them in a champagne-y/gold color.

i like it, but wouldn't do it for my own wedding. but i like that your mom had it so you want to keep up the tradition. I think if you do the rainbow theme, you should have the boys in black vest & ties. Let the girls stand out in the colors.

i really like it. i think it would look really nice & elegant with the guys in really elegant suits/ tuxes in all black maybe, not to match each girl.

are you having 6 bms? what if you did only 3 of those colors this way there wouldn't be as many colors.
so 1 color per 2 girls

If you're not matching the boys then I think you should go for it.
BUT I don't like the gold color tuxes..
like the other girls said, solid black would be really rich.

I agree- if you are going to do all of the colors I would have the men in all black

Im not a huge fan...but if you like incorporating more then one color how about picking 3 of the colors and have 2 BM's wear each color (assuming you have 6 like the picture)...like maybe the purple, blue, and berry??

this was super big in the 70s lol!! I'm not a huge fan of it but I think it photgraphs fun and its cute that both your mom and grandmother did it. It would be really nice to hang a picture of all three weddings after the fact in you home!!

Re: Rainbow Wedding??? (with pic)
i think its a cute idea since it is tradition. a friend brother did this recently (using pastel colored dresses) and the pictures i saw were cute...but my friend said she (being the MOH) and the other bridesmaids really didnt like the idea but they did it bc thats what the bride wanted

It's a very cute tradition idea! One idea I just thought of is --- what if you get one solid color and then do sashes in the different colors? So everyone is still coordinated, but then you can still incorporate the tradition?

I love this idea!!! I SOOOOO WANTED TO DO THIS (in shades of peacock colors).. unfortunately the dress we picked only had about 10 colors to choose from and I wasn't a fan of them all. So we did 2 colors... LOVE IT!!!

I love this idea... maybe a champagne dress with different color sashes? That's a nice way to make the tradition modern!

Jewel tones = Beautiful!!!
Definitely see what the colors look like in person. Order a swatch card from Alfred Angelo (since it looks like you are going with that designer) so you can mix and match which colors you think will look the best. They are glued on, bu you can peel them off the card. Looks like it's going to be really pretty. I can't wait to see what the real thing looks like.
