Randolph named new Mets manager

Not sure if this was already posted and I don't even know if this is the right board anymore (I know there's a Mets board but it doesn't get any traffic).

So what do the Mets fans, or any baseball fans, think of this move?

Since the Mets board is getting removed... this is now the currect place.

I am not thrilled with this move, but i'll give him a chance.

This reminds me of the NY Rangers hiring Brian Trottier (A long-time hated Islander) as their manager/coach. How long did he last? Five months?

Don started this discussion this morning on NWR, and it died out with all the chaos that ensued since. Now I see it was moved to 'Mets' (though Ron did say the Mets, Yankees, and a few other boards were going to be removed)

That's why having all of these boards gets confusing.

My hesitation with them hiring him is I think that team needs an experienced manager who will discipline them. They are not going to get that with Willie.

I totally agree. I'm not sure how he'll be different from Art Howe when it comes to player control and discipline - especially the veterans. Though what they really need to do is get rid of some of them.
