random DOJ question....

I bought my DOJ and i was wondering - is anyone worried that their jewelry is going to turn and get dark or anything with this much time before the wedding? Obv not if your jewelry is real, but mine is silver with swarovski crystals and i know i have some sterling silver Tiffany pieces that if i dont wear for a while turn. Even in my Judith Ripka sterling protective jewelry box! lol

i'm kinda nervous about it

that is the oddest thing i have ever heard. i have many tiffany sets that are sterling silver. i have the venetian link set for 6 years & i have not worn it in atleast 4 years & it still looks perfectly fine. i keep every item in its own seperate blue pouch. maybe you should go to tiffanys & get your items cleaned.

This is exactly why I haven't bought mine yet. I'm nervous about this also.

is it really that odd? surely i cant be the only person to have jewelry tarnish

i havent worn them in years either so i dont really care so much. i'm more concerned with the stuff i bought for the wedding, which isnt Tiffany. i guess i can use one of those cleaning cloths?

I don't think it is odd. I am a sterling silver only wearing girl and I have a LOT of silver jewelry so if something is not worn in a while (and that does happen, since I have a TON), some of my pieces do tarnish. I'm not talking about 'cheap' pieces either....expensive ones to tarnish, too, if they are not worn all the time...and even if you do wear them all the time, jewelry DOES tend to tarnish. I think if you get you DOJ a few weeks before your wedding, it will be fine. My sister bough her DOJ a little while ago and it looks as good as the day it was bought!

Not odd.. I have an anti-tarnish jewelry box I bought from QVC years ago and nothing has tarnished inside it... Designed by Lori Greiner. She also makes little pouches which would probably be perfect for you.. comes in different colors for under $20.

Anti-Tarnish Pouches in BLUE

Pouches in BROWN

Pouches in BLACK

Pouches in PINK

They have other anti tarnish stuff.. go to qvc and search SAFEKEEPER

I actually bought my Judith Ripka anti tarnish jewelry box from QVC too! But i've only bought it recently, so some of my things were a little tarnished already. Hopefully my stuff will be ok in there, but i may buy those little pouches to store them in also - thanks so much for the suggestion!

Some silver jewelry is actually anti-tarnish-it has a thin coat of a sealant that helps prevent tarnishing.
