Do you think it's weird if I send out a facebook message to all my friends, family and FH's fam announcing when the wedding is. I plan on sending out the Save the Dates about 11 months to a year in advance since a lot of people have to travel but I just thought people should get an informal heads up as early as possible.
Should I send out an informal msg or just wait till the STDs go out?
thanks

Re: random question
I wouldn't. But you could sign up for WeddingBook. It's a facebook application for wedding planning and then it'll post on your profile for people to look at.
I didn't send out save-the-dates. But I did set up a wedding website and then shot out an email to anyone's whose email address I had to fill them in on some of the details.

Re: random question
I sent out an email to those that I didn't personally call telling them we were engaged. Then I sent save the dates late October. About a week after sending the STDs I sent another email with our wedding website information. We have many OOT guests and this had hotel info and such for them to be aware of.

Re: random question
I think that would be fine to do. I like the Wedding Website link on FB idea. That way you can send a message out to all of the people and attach the link.

Maybe to close friends and family. I'd wait to tell everyone until the STDs go out.

Just don't send the message to people you will not be inviting..otherwise I think it is fine!

Re: random question
if its just a heads up then that sounds perfectly fine too me. honestly i think the only people that think it would be tacky are the people who don't use FB 'older generation people' younger gen peeps are just less formal, as long as you follow up with actual save the dates

Re: random question
I think a heads-up is fine, but if your profile date is your actual wedding date, I think you have more than enough time.
IMO, whoever wants to be there, will be there, regardless of how much notice you give them.
ETA: You don't know who you will still be friends with in 2011 so be careful! The girls on here can tell you a lot can happen in 18 months!!!
