Oooooooh yes, I agree. Who makes the worst you ask? My mother! Ugh! And she used to make it all the time.

Re: Random question of the day Mac & Cheese

My FAVORITE mac and cheese recipe (it can be easily cut in half). It is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, and it is great for parties.

Super Bowl Mac and Cheese

2 lbs uncooked macaroni
4 lbs American Cheese (or a combo of American and Cheddar- you can use slices or cubes)
12 cups milk
4 cups fresh buttered breadcrumbs
1 cup butter
1 cup flour
4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
hot sauce to taste (I usually use at least 1/3 cup)

This recipe will fit in a large catering-size aluminum pan. (I think they are about 3” deep.)

1.Grease aluminum tray or coat with non-stick spray.
2.Melt butter in a pot large enough to hold all of the milk and cheese. (Make sure to melt under a low flame and stir continuously.)
3.Add flour, salt and pepper, and blend.
4.Add milk slowly until sauce thickens.
5.Add cheese to sauce slowly, stirring constantly until cheese has melted.
6.Add hot sauce to taste.
7.Cook macaroni according to package. Do not overcook.
8.Drain macaroni.
9.Place macaroni in greased pan.
10.Pour cheese sauce over macaroni and top with breadcrumbs.
11.Bake in a moderate oven (350) at least 30 minutes.

I don't know...unless yours was chunky, lumpy, and burnt on the top, yours couldn't have been as bad as my mother's.
