RANT

So FH and I booked a 10:30AM appt at a pricey North Shore venue for Sunday morning. The woman we're meeting with calls me to see if we can switch to 10am. I call back and say 'fine, no prob'. She replies with, 'thanks so much for calling back, most people don't.'

So Sun morning, FH and I get there at 10 SHARP. We walk in, I see receptionist just settling in. I cheerily say 'Good Morning!'. She says rudely, 'Can I help you?', no good morning, no smile, nothing. FH says, 'we have a meeting with so and so.' Receptionist says, 'fill this out.' As we're done filling out (took 1 minute). So-and-so walks in to her office - JUST getting in (t's about 10:05 now). Turns on computer, checks voice mail, receptionist brings her a bagel... all while we're waiting!!! And SHE'S the one who changed the appt!!!! You would think that if she had a 10AM she'd get in at 9:30!!! Why bother changing then. After we've looked at the place, she brings us into a conf room (right next door to her office) and says 'look through these albums', and we then overhear her on the phone!!!

The whole situation made me so angry! Would NEVER book there!!! If she can't take care of us for 1 hr how can she take care of us on our wedding day! Ugh!!!

When we were checking out places we were AMAZED at the rudeness we encountered!!!! I mean do these people NOT understand that they are in the service industry??????

sometimes i dont think people realize how many places there are to have weddings - that first person is your first impression of the place and that can definitely make or break your experience. . . trust me, i know! so if you dont like it you can move right along to one of the other 8 million places on LI!

sorry you had a bad experience but there are so many places out there where people go out of their way to make you feel welcome! don't let it get you discouraged - i know i was in tears at one point and thank god i moved on because then i found JT! and the difference was amazing from the moment i walked in - every single person in there ( even the people just cleaning up) actually went out of their way to smile and say hello to us!

Wow Sorry this was not a good experience for you... But I agree if she could not cater you for 1 hour how will she be taking care of your wedding day as well as all the planning up to the big day!

I absolutely agree. It's these initial impressions that count. If you can't get more than 100% on the 1st impression, what will it be like once they have your business?

OMG, my FIRST appointment for wedding planning was such a bad experience - He was SO RUDE to me that I actually left there crying and called my FH and was like 'If this is what wedding planning is I want NO part of it!' ...but then I found places and vendors who WANTED my business and it's been an improvement!

At least something good came out of that bad experience you had yesterday - you hit 100 posts

I am so sorry you experienced such rude service, but better you found out now before you gave them a deposit.

OMG...that's awful! How rude!

I had a bad experience with an RH's banquet manager over the phone...He took the most annoyed/exasperated tone with me and must have put me on hold about 8 times to answer other lines. He finally said, 'I'm really busy, can you call back in half an hour?' I was like, 'Um...no you can call me back, a$$hole!' Needless to say, I told him that no, I would'nt be calling back because he was so rude to me.

I had a visit like that too! At the place I had my heart set on...its stinks but everything happens for a reason. It amazes me that people who are in the business that make that much money and charge you thousands of dollars for their services wouldnt impress you constantly!

I went looking at RH halls last year with my girlfriend. And some places were AMAZING - while a few were just rude. It seemed to be that the higher priced places ASSUMED that the place would speak for itself and that they kind of act like 'Whatever'. I remembered the places where the attitude was not comforting and didn't even CONSIDER them for my wedding!

Don't worry.. you are going to have a beautiful wedding with an awesome venue!
