RANT

RANT

So FH and I were talking last night and apparently his brother asked him if we could have the brother's son, Lane, as a ring bearer. Lane will be a year and 9 months at the wedding! He's barely even walking right now!!! Is FH's brother insane?

So FH told his brother that we aren't using Lane because of his age and FBIL said 'well, my wife and I want Lane to be in the wedding so that when he gets older, he can remember this day and feel more connected to the wedding'

Is he F***ing insane?!?! Does he think that just because Lane isn't in the wedding, he won't be in any pictures?!??!

what pissed me off even more is that FH said to FBIL that he will 'readdress the issue with me' to see what we can do. I got SOOO mad at FH!

FH then realized he was being stupid (thank G-d) and he will tell his brother that Lane cannot be in the wedding.

Re: RANT

Umm...a 1 year old as a ringebearer That idea seems really retarded. The kid don't even know he's alive . Do you think he's going to remember or care about being in pictures? Does FBIL forget that this is your wedding and not his. There's nothing to readdress.

Re: RANT

haha, i know ... FBIL wants Lane to be able to see himself in pictures as he 'walks' down the aisle ...

i absolutely agree that it's the most retarded thing i've ever heard.

and so rude for him to ask (and push for it) in the first place!!!

Re: RANT

well its really not a matter of what FSIL and FBIL want... my sister told me that my BIL was upset that my niece and nephew wouldnt be in the wedding... i guess he just assumed they would be because of how close my sister and I are...

just tell them, sorry but the kid will barely be two it doesnt matter if hes in the wedding or not hes still never going to remember the day unless he sees a picture...

How will a 1 year and 9 month old child remember the wedding whether or not he is in the wedding?

People are ridiculous!

Re: RANT

I think it's ridiculous that they went out of their way to ask, but I don't think he's all that young. I've seen practically newborn babies act as ring bearer with someone carrying them down the aisle. But it's your wedding and it's wrong of them to push. As if the kid is even going to remember or care!

you know people have some bigg azz ballls, sorry to say. seriously, so he could feel more connected to the wedding. yeah, im sure a kid really cares. how bout the parents tell it like it is...we want to feel important, and having our son in it will do that for us.

im glad your fh thought about what he said and will go back to his brother., i know its difficult to address these things but it has to be done.

Re: RANT

A one-year-old as a ringbearer can be cute, but also REALLY unpredictable. We had a friend's son as a RB in my best friend's wedding when he was just over a year old, and he was pulled in a decorated wagon by the flower girl.

The kid slept most of the time which was good for the noise level, not so good for photos.

Now the kid is 4. He remembers diddly squat about the wedding!

Saying he'd 'readdress the issue' is just the typical poor choice of words that our FH's tend to use when in sticky situations. Good for him for seeing the light!

ITA

An almost 2 year old can def walk down an aisle, but they should not have asked and pressured you. It's your wedding, not their's!

I don't know why, but I can't stop laughing at that line

My ring bear aka my son was 1 1/2 when we got married... It was the most cutest thing EVER!
He asks me to play the video for him now and he gets so excited to see himself walking down the aisle..he plops in front of the tv and watches it with all his concentration- you would think dora was on or something..

I think little its cute- as long as he doesnt throw the pillow at ur FH...lol

but i do understand your concerns...
are his parents in your bridal party?

Re: RANT

not to upset anyone but i have a severe issue with having children that young being in a wedding. when my nephew was 1 he was a ring bearer & i thought it was the worst thing in the world. then at 2, my sister had my nephew dance with her at her sweet 16. he wore a suit & everything, he was super cute & at 8 years old he remembers the sweet 16 but has no recollection of the wedding.

not to mention that i personally think its torture for children that young to have to get all dressed up. i also do not find it cute when ring bearers or flower girls start carrying on while being dragged down the aisle.

i have my 3 year old niece as flower girl & i am petrified that she is going to have a tantrum that day. my brother & SIL where already warned that if she doesn't want to walk down the aisle then its their job to remove her from the church. i do not want a screaming child on my video.

sorry if it sounds harsh but my parents, FMIL, FH & I are are spending a lot of money for things to be perfect. not to mention that i have spent my entire life dreaming about the wedding.

Re: RANT

Some 1 1/2 year olds can do it, i think ... but not this kid. he's really smart, but his mom is a helicopter mother who doesn't let him out of her sight. He only started crawling at 12 months old. He's developing slowly because FSIL doesn't let him do anything on his own.

I think FBIL felt 'offended' that Lane isn't a ring bearer even though Leah (other FBIL's daughter) is the flower girl. She's going to be 3 though.

FH will tell his brother today that Lane will still be in pictures, but he will not be IN the bridal party!

my ring bearer is 3 years old and flower girl is 8.. . but my nephew Austin will be 1 year and 4 months when i get married and he will go down the aisle with my brother and sis in law cause i want him part of my wedding.. he wont be ring bearer but just acknowleged along with my goddaughter Gianna who will be 1 year and 7 months. I think its cute if you want them part of the wedding..but i understand why u wouldnt want that as well
