RANT- Engagement Party Uninvited Guests
So my engagement party is labor day weekend. It is a simple backyard party with catered food and alcohol. We did not want to do it in a hall. We wanted to make it as relax, easy going, and fun as possible. Also this was thrown together within a month bc my FI family lives all over the country and it was the one weekend that everyone could guarantee to be in NY. It is in my parents backyard and its a nice size yard but not big at all. Our parents kept stressing the amount of people we wanted to invite since the backyard is not huge.
We fought about how many people could come and couldnt come. After everything was said and done, the invites went out. We knew alot of people could not make it since it was very last minute and a holiday weekend. We did not mind since the main people we want there, will be there.
One of my FI friends from college, who live in DC, emailed me earlier this week asking if we could bring his roommate. We have met his roommate several times. he was not invited bc, again we had a limit, and also the rule is who you invite to your enagagement party must be invited to the wedding. I felt bad and said yes but told him to make his roomamte think of it as a backyard party and not a engagement party, meaning i didnt want him to give a gift bc he is not invited to the wedding.
Well this morning, i got an email from the same friend and he has now invited FOUR more people! FOUR! There are people I would rather be there but couldnt invite bc we had a LIMIT! He is turning it into a kegger when it is an ENGAGEMENT PARTY. Me and my fiance are both layed back people and really do not like to start fights and hurt peoples feelings. Is there a nice way to say, 'these people are not invited?'
Sorry its sooo long but i could really use HELP!
